Riding in the rain

  • You lucky southerners... my ride tonight had 30mph wind and driving rain. All my kit including chuffing overshoes (in august!) Is so wet it probably won't be dry for tomorrow! Grrr.

The only problem I have is getting my feet wet - even with overshoes, they never stay completely dry. Maybe I need to get better overshoes... Once your feet start going numb, the whole experience isn't very nice. :?.

I'm the same, wet feet kill my morale! :(

    I love it.

Don't even have mudguards, but you actually don't need them on high-quality country lanes most of the time. :) ..................................

Mudguards make a huge difference in keeping your feet dry.

Not really, on a long ride, even with mudguards, your feet wil still get wet, maybe not as quickly, but with the rain and spray, it's only a matter of time untill the shoes slowely become saturated with water.

Mudguards are for wusses. Real men eat road dirt (round here it's always salty from about October to May too, tastes much better)

I like my brother's response when we spoke of this recently:

Bro:Do you ride in the rain at all?
Me: I've been out a few times but I haven't got a jacket to ride with to keep me dry so I just get soaked, good fun though.
Bro:Oh, I'm not bothered about getting wet, I'm just worried that if I ride in the rain my bike will rust......

That''s a valid point, but I don't belong to one - just not that interested. Of course there are motorists behind me most days complaining about the poor visibility from all the spray :D
