where to go from here?

Hi! I'm a lazy student, and was planning on using this summer to get some good racing under my belt after a hard winters training, but my summers been a cock up.

I basically havent done any cycling because of A) a nasty infection in my nether regions due to an ill fitting saddle (which a i really should have changed earlier, but didnt get round to) Which put me out of action for 5 weeks.B) i now have bloody flu (oink oink) which has thus far have me off the bike for 1 week, soon to be two, then three, etc.

All the while my training partner in uni has spent his summer jollying round southern france on his bike. I'm sure i'll get a kicking next time i see him.

Back to my main point, what should i do now? Start preparing for next year, very early, and risk peaking to soon? try and get fit very quickly and catch the end of the season? become a leisure cyclist? or anything else you can think of. In all my (5) years as a cyclist ive never come across quite a predicament. :?

Thanks, cycleboy.
I love my bike the most, i can ride it whenever i want

Happens to me all the time! If you aren't near promotion in the rankings hy not just recover and build towards next year? You wont peak early unless you want to. All training does not have to be done at a million mph and with 8 weeks off the bike you will need to build a base first anyway. Have you considered cross or track racing in the winter as another alternative?
