-
pics please!! i was looking to get the 2009 ex 8 but the 2010 ex 8 in black looks like "the one"...
is it worth the extra 300 quid though? It`s changed a bit since...
2010 Zesty 3140 -
sorry for the wait everybody! having camera problems which I suppose is typical when you actually want to use it  and would rather not use a low res camera phone to take pics, that may have to be the case though, the 2011 bike may be out before I get this damn thing working0

http://www.pedalon.co.uk/acatalog/trek_remedy_9.8.html
you seen this £3750 and the spec is rubish
even the 09 remedy 8 had a better spec
how can trek charge 750£ more than an '09 remedy 9 and it have a lower spec
daylight robery me thinksI assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.0 -
Hi guys, finally some pics have been taken my cat tried to put me off a few times with a long hard stare but here they are, for speed will just give you the url: http://www.mypicx.com/08302009/Trek_fuel/
Kopite it is a good bike with some extra kit over the '09 model but not 300 quid's worth of extra kit as far as I know so it's a personal choice also haven't been for a ride yet due to a bad cold and it's driving me mad0 -
Lapierre.... the Remedy 9.8 is a carbon frame, that's where the cost is0

Very nice mate. Enjoy!0 -
thanks, can't wait to get out there on my 'typical' ride just to see the differences this bike brings. the pics were taken in a hurry, any specific part of the bike someone would like a pic of just message me back
p.s- Matt, as a fellow fuel ex8 owner, do you have any words of wisdom for me about the way the bike rides? I'm coming from a Trek 4300 and while im a confident cyclist it seems silly not to ask an experienced owner0 -
nice.. very nice!
8) do pedal on give you freebies even if you finance part of the bike? It`s changed a bit since...

Well, I've only had mine a couple of months but so far so good.
Things I've noticed:
1. The bikes riding position is superb.
2. The saddle is uncomfotable (I've changed mine)
3. The bike is a 'do anything' type and takes anything you throw at it.
4. The tyres are good in the dry, but horrible in anything but (although I think they've changed on the 2010 model)
5. Tape up the paintwork before you ride as the paint is thin and marks easily.
6. Pro pedal is v effective.
Any other questions you have I'll try and answer.

I take it this is all models? which parts of the frame?
thanks0 -

Anywhere the cables rub, seat stays (heel rub) and top tube (baggies).
I was peed off when I saw the scuffs after one ride purely I think coz it was brand new, but it's a mountain bike, and it'll have more than scuffs by the time I've binned it a few times :shock:0 -
Thanks for replying so fast Matt and yeah sadly I guess scuffs are part of mountain biking although right now i'm reluctant to take my shiny new bike anywhere near the outside world which is slightly ridiculous with a mountain bike
I'm determined to stick with the candy c's and would like to ask if the people who struggle to clip in and out know about the 2 different clip out angles? apparently beginners should put the cleat with 2 circles on the right shoe enabling a 15 degree release, Ive heard they do loosen up after a bit? I'm completely new to clipless pedals and have been using flat so far but am determined to get used to them and not fall once but we shall see0 -

I still have not got any confidence in my candys
I've done over 60 miles with them now and im finding clipping out a little harder than i would of hoped(although they have loosened up a bit)
when i get chance im swapping them for the shimano m520's as the adjustable tension should help alot!0 -
Hi Gonga,
Sorry to hear that, I have heard other brands with adjustable tension are much more favorable, I think crank brothers are a bit too fancy for there own good perhaps?
I'm going to give them a whirl mid-week fingers crossed. Ive just been depressing myself reading the stolen bikes section of the forum, its truly awful. I'm sure if thieves knew how much we all love our bikes they would not be able to live with themselves, then again they have no compassion do they?
Did you know about the different release angles Gonga? I guess tight is tight whatever the angle.0 -
Took the Candys off mine straight away and put on some Shimano XTs, adjustable spring rates set to the loosest setting to start withAdam.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

I did mate. Don't get me wrong its ok to clip out if you have the time but if its a "s**t,i have to put my feet down " moment then you can forget it.
I talked to a chap who had some of the shimano m545's and he said there great to use unclipped if needed for a bit.
I think I've asked the question about riding unclipped with some clipless pedals before and the general consensus was its a bad idea(although i did most of gisburn unclipped! )0 -

Monkeyboy85... i notice you have XT cranks on yours, is that standard or did you ask for them to be added? It`s changed a bit since...
2010 Zesty 3140 -
It's a little bonkers putting them on mountain bikes as standard when they are that bad, I think most of us will have at least 3 or 4 times on each ride when its a s**t I have to put my feet down moment. I'm going to experiment just to see how bad they really are, its strange also as Trek are 'in bed' with shimano, why not just put the M545's you mentioned on all of them? :?
Kopite, The XT cranks are standard, alot of the early publicity pics don't show them on the bike for some weird reason, its a complete XT drivetrain apart from SRAM chain and cassette.
p.s crank brothers acid and mallet both have a large platform and can be used unclipped, mallet is actually a downhill pedal, but I would class anyone who's clipped in and involved in serious downhill mountain biking as more of a kamikaze pilot0 -
thats good news, they dont advertise the XT cranks in the spec.. cheersIt`s changed a bit since...

Just had my first ride feels great, thaught I would have to adjust to new kit all round but settled in immediately, had to raise my seat and thats it.
Also really happy to report Ive had zero problems with the candy c pedals. Maybe I'm just lucky, found clipping in and out really easy on some pretty crazy terrain too, all round very happy with my purchase and can't recommend it enough0 -

Good stuff
how did you find the tyres?0 -
the tyres were great, its been raining like mad where I live too and it was gloopy mud mixed with loose gravel etc and I didn't have any problems. Trek have changed them though to Bontrager XDX rather than Jones XR, think they may of had some complaints, lol0
-
all you need now is some muddy pics!
ive emailed my LBS about one in black, theyre expecting their delivery in approx 3weeksIt`s changed a bit since...
2010 Zesty 3140 -
hah hah, too late on that one i'm afraid, the second I got home it was being cleaned
I got told when I picked mine up im the first one to get one in the uk  couldn't quite believe it. Got loads of squeal from my rear brake at times on the ride but they are being broken in while it's raining so I'm not going to question them, massive power though, im pretty amazed by them. my old shimano mechanical brakes needed your whole hand and a good hard squeeze, I think me and bike would part ways if I tried that with these0 -
-
that's not strictly true, they are much more prone to it occurring but depends on your disc, pad compound riding style how hot the pads and discs are etc, my front brake never made a peep and it's identical and was used ALOT, lol0
