  • I suffer from Bambakomallophobia.
The fear of cotton wool. I think my missus gets that too. Something to do with the feel of it if you rub it between thumb and finger (kickingmule must be shuddering by now )

I have a fear of falling. I'm fine with heights such as high cliffs etc when I know theres no danger of toppling over the egde. I quite often get those horrid dreams of falling, and just before you hit the ground you suddenly wake up in a panic stricken cold sweat. *shudder*

With me its wasps......ergh, i run screaming when they come near me. Not bees though I don't mind them.

I got stung as a kid on my foot about 10 times by one of the little beasts, I remember pain and limping. I haven't been stung since, I'm probably making a mountain out of a mole hill, I bet it doesn't hurt half as much as I remember.

Like nettle stings, I remember them being killer as a kid. Hurting for hours......
Then I had a baptism of fire when I went camping one time and was drunk(ish) went for a pee, saw nettles and carefully picked a nettle free spot.....except it wasn't nettle free at all was it :? i was like ooohhhh whats that stinging. ut it lasted all of 5 mins and was nowhere near as bad as I remembered. Now I get nettled every time I go out on my bike pretty much and don't care......not that I'm saying I'd like to be stung by a wasp that often eep

Yeah, the noise and feel of it, eewwww it's horrible. It's like a really dry, scratchy sound. Cotton wool is meant to be soft, but to me it's a horrible feel *shudders*

I was shuddering as I read that, yes. I can't stop now

I`m scared rigid by earwigs - even if I see a dead one it makes me freeze - WTF?

But worst of all - ANYTHING DENTAL
I`m not joking, I`ve passed out through fear alone, even on my way into the dentist!
And I`ve had panic attacks and sweats driving past the b*stard place!

I have a phobia of dogs, got bitten when I was younger so never really stroked one. I like them until one comes near me and I'll freeze and almost cry.

Then I hate moths too, big spiders, wasps and I'm sure there must be other things too.

Ok, so it's NOT a fear... But... If we do the washing up in the dishwasher, the plates and glasses come out feeling... HORRIBLE. Yes, they are clean, but... I just can't stand how they feel

I have to rinse them off in the sink before I can use them! LOL!

  • Fear of moths reminds me of when I was at uni in Oz. I was riding at night along a street and as I went under a streetlight a HUGE moth hit me in the face and lodged itself between my glasses and my eyeball. It was flapping like mad and I had no idea what it was.
I let out a falsetto scream, put both hands to my face and fell of the bike.

I would genuinely s*** my pants if that happened to me. Brrrr.

  • I think I just attract bugs. When I was a kid (again in Oz) we had a plague of small beetles, a little larger than a tic-tac. I was reading in bed late one night and felt one hit my ear. I put my hand up, but there's nothing there so I went back to reading. A couple of seconds go by and I hear/feel a rustling INSIDE my head. In a panic I try to stick my little finger down my ear canal but can't feel anything, but the rustle get louder...

Long story short, it had got stuck in there and couldn't turn around, so it just burrowed straight ahead for my eardrum. I'm yelling and my parents are asking useful questions like 'Are you sure it's in there?'

When it got to my eardrum it tried to dig through, one of the most painful things I have ever experienced. Ended up at the hospital emergency ward where the duty nurse said she couldn't see anything, filled my ear with oil and plugged it with cotton wool to drown it and sent me home.

Next day the doctor couldn't see it either and said it must have fallen out overnight, I pointed out that my ear had been plugged and there wasn't a back entrance in there. After about 15 mins of syringing he could see one leg, there was talk of putting me under a general anaesthetic but they finally managed to get it out.

I got the worst ear infection ever...

Reminds me of someone I once knew who felt something flap in his hear and couldn't get it out. His ear felt full and started with a green discharge - went to the docs and they syringed out a dead rotting moth!

Strange as I love all sorts of water activities and have no fear of anything natural (apart from sharks!) like reefs.

Matt, I thought I was the only one in the world with this! The underside of ships make me quiver in fear! Went out to honduras for a holiday, was meant to be one of the best places in the world for diving. Was too scared to do my PADI in case a big boat/ship cruised overhead! FIne on the things, just the thought of seeing the bottom of them makes me shiver

I think I have the same fear as Surf-Matt & JadeWeed. It just creeps me out, especially old pumping houses on large rivers, with all the gate systems etc - I can just imagine being trapped there. Albeit I used to be a club swimmer, what is wrong with me!

Miss Marple - indeed, I have been a lifeguard (beach), done an open water swim in a tri, surf all the time but it's just the man made stuff - even the "feet" of piers spook me out!!

There's a few things I'm not too keen on, but haven't really got ant phobias, as such.

But the OP asked about "Crap" phobias, how's this...

Work with a guy that has a phobia of Baked Beans!!!

He freezes at the sight of them.
    Problem is... He's a Paramedic...
What if he gets a call to Tesco's and the patient is down the Baked Beans aisle??? :?

for my 21st birthday, my mates took me to london zoo, not remembering (maybe), they wandered into the aquarium bit, where i promptly threw up over my new girlfriend!.

i cant even go into the local tesco as they have re jigged everything and i dont know where the fish counter is!

.... i dont like spiders or worms neither!
if its got less than 2 legs and more than 4, its a wrong un!

Heights and snakes. Even accidently touching a picture of a snake (e.g. when turning a page in a book) makes me feel scared.

The feet of piers are pretty spooky...ok(ish) when tide is out, but then they get seriously ominous!
Not as bad as shipwrecks though! My mates go diving and love diving at wrecks. Personally I cannot think of anything worse - well apart from maybe having a plane crash in the middle of the atlantic, watching the wing of a jumbo sink next to me and then see a huge liner come close to pick us all up (arrrrghhhhh!)

Damn we are a weird bunch!

  • Im phobic about spiders, and whoever posted that fucking spider on the previous page should be shot, I don't know who it was as I panicked and shut the window down, but I nearly vomitted!!!!

Should have put a link in or something, that could have triggered an anxiety attack!
  • I too hate moths!

But worse than that, I have a fear of ripping sponges! Not real living ones, but those things you clean dishes with! When they come in packets of 6 they're always still attached to each other and have to be ripped apart! I cannot stand the thought of it!
On last night's ride someone had ripped a large sponge ball into pieces and strewn it all over the path, I nearly fell off with the stress off it!!!
