Do you annoy your dentist?

Or should I say does your dentist annoy you? My dentist is a nice chap but I need two fillings for two small cavities in the enamel of my wisdom teeth and given the rapid rise of this small problem he advised me against eating all sorts of crap as well as fizzy drinks, alcohol etc. but I don't take any of that, what I do have is a lot of natural sugars, i.e. fruit.

I was just wondering has training or rather lots of "energy" drinks/snacks caused some of you (scum  ) problems with the dentist?

Mouthwash on the bike lol? There's jokes about teeth but save it...

To be fair I'll take the cardiovascular health complimented by the odd filling bill I'm just interested to know the extent of other peoples problems particularly those who have glucose gels and stuff like that.

Art thou a L'Oreal man as well lol? In just over a week I'll probably have about two molars unfilled, lonely sods. An empty wallet to go with it... ~£200 is my guess, I should have asked but it was around that last time.

I'd do the maths and work out which was cheapest expensive toothpaste vs. fillings but it's all a bit late now.

My dentist is extremelly hot so I asked her out four times before she accepted. Unfortunately it turns out she is married. Despite that, I have never enjoyed going to the dentist so much!!

I eat well and Gatorade is the only suggary thing I drink. I have never seen those gels people here keep talking about. Not sure if they are even for sale here.

So the secret, eat what you want, just find a sexy dentist. You won't even feel the pain*!!

*except in the wallet that it.

Knocking back a can of coke at a feed stop is probably better than slowly sipping a sugary or acidic drink all day, as exposure to the sugar and acid will be less prolonged. I use Nuun hydration tablets whilst on the bike, which contain no sugars/no carbs at all, just electrolytes. I do eat a couple of energy bars on a ride but have been told that eating a bar/gel or dried fruit quickly, is also better for teeth than for instance sucking a sweet slowly. I try not to drink more than a glass a day of fruit juice though and eat fruit with meals, not between them, for the same reason. It seems to be working, as I've no fillings and haven't been to a dentist for ten years, because so far, I've not had any problems with my teeth. If, like me, you have thin enamel, taking care to avoid prolonged exposure to acids (rather than sugars) such as those in fruit is key to keeping your teeth looking good!

Here's a really simple tip for when you're guzzling down the sugary drinks on your ride: In one bottle you have your energy drink. In the other. Each time you take a swig of your energy drink take a small swig of water from the other bottle and swill it around your mouth before swallowing. This will rinse your teeth a bit.
