It is designed to be fully active under braking - the design is prone to squat under power due to the low virtual pivot and low anti squat.

It is personal preferance what you prefer, no doubt FSR is very active with not much chain growth.

they say it isnt affected by chain forces or brake forces, no kick back or chain drop away(whatever that means) also the pedal stroke is unaffected by the operation of the suspension.

but doesnt every manufacturer say that about their own system?

all i know is that it pedals eficiently and absorbs big and small bumps equally well. also, it works in all conditions and doesnt tend to bob cause it uses a big old dose of LSC to keep that in check.

If that was true, they wouldn't need a brain or lockout ;-)

But yes, many others are guilty of this, and some in a lot worse way.

but the shock is as much a part of the suspension as the position of the pivots. for the record, i never need to use the lockout on the stumpys and the enduro never came with a lockout in the first place.

Oh very true, but there isn't, and never will be a FS bike with gears that isn't affected by chain forces as it is physically impossible.

In fact it is the chain forces acting on the suspension that stops them bobbing.

    Just out of interest....

I ended up going to JEJames and buying the Stumpy Elite :)

Very sexy looking bike, was a bit late to give it a real test when I got back so it'l have its first real outing tomorrow.

Now I just need to sell my GT I-Drive and all is well.
