Without the communication, how do you prove the observation?

Even if insects, rodents, cats could communicate with us, would you trust anything they got to say? Especially cats - devious blighters.

The event will have a effect on the observer - the key is to interpret the effect - verbal communication is not the only form

The observer has an effect on the event.

Not for Bishop Berkely - and only for quantum mechanics surely? Big stuff like trees is still Newtonian.

I think blondie's right, people who are red-green colour blind see both as the same colour, indiscernible from one another. You just have to look at the colour-blindness tests to understand that...

As for perception of colour, turquoise is always a good one - a blue-green mix. My brother had a car that was that sort of colour once, I saw it as green, he saw it as blue. It's definitions as much as anything.

I have a pair of dark green trackie bottoms and my ex INSISTED they were black. I guess it's just about possible that a black dye had faded (a lot) to dark green, but she refused to even see the greenness.

What is an insexct? Something like this?

damn one more, and 500 posts. :)

Yep only Quantum Mechanics, newtonian mechanics are an approximation (albeit a damn fine one) of the net effect of the quantum process for low energy big systems..

    Right im getting there s l o w l y
i now understand the stuff about the tree and vibrations being there but not makeing a sound if there is nothing to actually hear the vibrations and iv hear something about that blokes cat being in a box and that it could be both dead or alive because you cant see if its alive or dead? is that right? but i think thats silly because it has to be one or the other, is there a right or wrong awnser?

I have lots of questions but no awnsers

BluCat, I think you need to set up a quantum mechanics/metaphysics/philiosophy thread. You appear to be the guru....

Kieran_Burns, true enlightenment follows such a first step.

You lot asked for it, a thread for philosphical questions. Oh and I cannot accept any credit, there's loads of people on here who are far more knowledgeable than I.
