  • Zipvit ones are nice - A bit like the centre of a cream rose chocolate but rocket-fuelled. Always helps on 'sprint finish friday.'

I thought the Orange Zipvit gels were a bit sweet when I used it on Saturday. Their Yoghurt Apricot bars are DELICIOUS though. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I have nothing more to say on the matter.

I quite like the Lucozade gels - less runny than the SIS ones I find.

Not sure how they compare on price - you can buy direct for 89p each but I think I've seen them in Asda for less than this. Also sold in Boots.

They are straight glucose though, so little more than dextrose and some flavouring made into a paste, so it really shouldn't be very expensive. Dissolving some regular sugar in some fruit juice would give you a pretty similar product digestively at an even cheaper price.

Simple sugars aren't normally that great as a sports food though, more complex but still easy to digest carbs like maltodextrin are generally better and is what's found in most other gels. Also mixtures of sugars, which is why fructose is commonly found.

Making your own is the cheapest solution, but the CarbBoom or Hammer 24 serving gel flasks, or High5 bulk packets are another solution that brings you to the same cost as the lucozade for what is a superior product.

The local Tesco here has been selling the SIS gels for 89p which is a good buy.

You might find something useful in this thread in the Commuting forum.

If that's the SIS Smart 1, then I agree. Lovely berry/cherry flavour and not thick and gloopy like lots of the others.
