Price lowered by 100 quid overnight...

the same happened to me as did the OP, however CRC sent a email back saying they would discount my next purchase by £50 quid. I think my email was polite and it worked. Yes I agree that they have a business to run, however its in their best interests to keep customers happy especially as it builds loyalty. Loyalty = profit....0

Wait a sec here.!I have been nothing but respectful and polite with every email i have sent to CRC.Hey Farmer i have sent you a PM let me know asap please dude........Tora0

price of goods sold will go up as well as down
share prices will fluctuate throughout the day - you buy or sell at the listed price at that time. you should not complain if things dont go your way.
if you ordered something for £500, one hour later the shop then informs you that it has gone up to £600, i am sure that you will complain that they should honour the original £500 price
i can understand your annoyance in this matter and i will feel exactly the same if i was in the same situation
if the bike is supplied to you fault free then i think that it should not be returned for a refund purely on price alone
i have used crc on numerous occasions and find them to be very good, on price, service and fast deliveries. i tend to judge other online bike shops to them to see how they compare.
all said and and done i hope that crc WILL make a generous goodwill gesture to make sure that you are happy in the form of a refund, gift vouchers, money off next pruchase etc, not because they have to but purely as good customer service.
i look forward to the outcome of this and hope that you will get a satisfactory result.0 -
A tricky one.
FWIW, those who shop at Amazon.co.uk have a policy that states if the price drops within 30 days of your original order, they will refund you the difference.
Clearly that is an exception, but I have always had first class service from CRC, and on occasions well beyond what I should expect.
When I have asked for favours or what have you before, I always phrase it that that I am just asking, and know they are not obliged to do so, but I will also point out that I am a loyal customer, and have placed X amount of orders with them in the past, and that I am thinking of buying something or other in the future.
I suppose if this is your first order then you won't have that bit to add.
I'ma little confused though, as if you bought the bike on Friday, surely they wouldn't have sent it out first thing Monday.....?
If they hadn't, then you could easily (I would have though) cancelled and re-ordered.

I was so busy at work yesterday i had around 5 mins to myself just enough time to email and by the time i had rechecked to see what the price was it back upto £635.You know what is the most annoying thing i didnt even ask for like the whole 100 quid back i said i would have been happy with a small gesture back.I am waiting to see what Farmer Giles bought if it is the same bike as me and got £50 quid i am going to be very very angry.I have been nothing but respectful and well mannered with them to say the least...........Tora
Its been sent out today so overall pretty damn poor service aswell lol.I should be out riding hills by now ........Tora
Oh i only used them once before last week bought a coat for 30 quid and was very happy with the service......0 -
I don't see why you should be anything other than respectful and well mannered with them as they have done nothing wrong. If they offer anything think yourself lucky, if they don't, just wear it and move on. Its frustrating but in the end, you're getting the bike you want at a price you were prepared to pay. To send the bike back will eat into any price cost benefit and also cost in time and hassle. If you want to go elsewhere in future thats your perogative but every online retailer will move prices up and down at 'random'.0

Unfortunately, Amazon cancelled this policy last year. Apparently people were 'abusing' it, whatever that means.0 -
Well ok I'll add my opinion as everyone else has.
Send it back.
I had the same thing with CRC. Bought some shop soiled bars that were supposedly discounted. Then noticed that for the same price I could have bought non shop soiled. I pointed this out that the discount given for shop soiled bars wasn't actually a discount.
£10 reduction they offered.
No more CRC for me.0 -
Adding to that - just refuse delivery of the bike - that way you wont have to pay for it. And write them an email about the 7 day cancellation Sales of Goods act thingy.
Then go and buy one of those from wiggle. Problem solved.x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

+1If it was 4 days,1 week,2 weeks later i wouldnt give a damn just the fact it was so soon made me a lil ticked off.
Thing is there is no difference between 4 days and 1 day really is there? Sure CRC might decide to do the nice thing and sort you out but it wouldn't be the "wrong" thing if they didn't- I can't see that they owe you anything here.
I'm inclined to agree with Wappygixer. Prices are reduced all the time and inevitably sometimes it'll be just after someone's bought one. Annoying, sure, but there it is.
Sure I'm miffed when it happens to me but it's just one of those things.0 -
swings and roundabouts. I just got a box of 10 freewheel removers when I only ordered one. Bloody bargain! Anyone need one?0

Well i am waiting to see if the other lad that has posted something about this ordered the same bike as me and if they offered him£50 quid off his next purchase then in my eyes its whats called Double Standards.
A lot of you guys dont get the point i am making. It goes from 6499.99 down to 552.00 to 635.0 sorry but tha'ts utter mental!!!!!!!!!!Things go up and down 10 pounds fair enough but up and down by 100 like in 2 days come on.
And if they had have said heres the 14.99 back as a gesture well it would have sat a lil better with me......Tora
And if it happened to alot of you i am sure you would feel the same as me...............0 -

Thats your assessment but reality is there isn't enough info to say why there was price volatility. For instance, maybe someone made a mistake when it should have been another model that was discounted by 100 pounds - putting the price back up so soon was them rectifying the error. Would you prefer them to continually sell stock at a loss based on someones error?
I still think you should have a deep breath, count to 10 and move on - with the bike, whatever the outcome. Shop elsewhere in the future if you feel hard done by.
I am having dealings with Dell computers at the moment - think yourself lucky you're not in my position.0 -
Evening folks, I've replied back to Torra. Perhaps this situation could have been handled a bit better. My email to them, basically said: I bought a bike, then it was reduced, why didnt your sales guys contact me?
Should it make any difference - if you are buying goods online or in a shop (a customer is a customer??) Especially when the online shop has a decated customer service team like many shops. I was planning to buy some wheels for my bike from the site and explained that perhaps I would be better off going to my local bike shop.
perhaps on this occasion - Torra could be offered a voucher for next purpose, then everybody wins!
thinking out loud perhaps CRC could change their name to "StockMarket Cycles"0 -

I don't really see why they would contact you...?0 -
I think we shall draw a line in the sand here people. We all beg to differ but thats the way life goes many thanks to all of you for leaving a message with help and advice.I know for one thing if i do need any help with anything biking this is the best place to ask lol.......Cheers Dudes.Tora0

i'd would expect any decent store customer service to contact a customer. If they knew that the prices of goods were going to change by a significant amoun within a extremely short space of timet? At the end of the day - the happier the customer the more likely - the customer will come back and spend more dosh.0

This wouldn't happen to be a Cube Aerial would it?0

Just to let you guys know CRC are giving me back £15 quid which i think is pretty fair of them.I do really want this bike as its in my colours and now they have gave me a lil something back i feel a bit better,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Tora0

good point!
but i would only do this if you have the share money to get another bike as they could take their merry time with the refund(i think they get something like 3 months to process it,)0 -
Careful, if it was me i'd give you the refund then just out of stock it if you re ordered, chances are they have dropped the price just to get rid of a few remaining stock, you could end up shooting yourself in the foot!
Better off just asking what they can do, look at anything as a bonus get out and enjoy the purchase!Carbon is a mans best freind0
