should I just get my " friend" to download them off t'internet ...

    !

thats what I did, balls to paying more for maps on a £300 GPS device!!

so at the risk of labouring a point, I presume that now I have the download I just need to stick it onto a cd and when I the garmin arrives use the software provided with it to import the ( downloaded) files/maps into the route mapping element.

Obviously at the moment the files are useless as they require the relevant ( garmin ) programme to open & utilise them. ( watch me having the route software for downtown Baghdad! )

If she wants to treat you, why not get her to buy some saucy outfits from Ann summers and wear them for you several times a week?

Ok, you won't have a Garmin but you will have nice memories.

Or am i just a bit of a perv ?
