    Very old.

I was thinking that. Where are the American riders coming through who are 25/26/27 years old?

There are a few on Garmin... Farrar I guess is the biggest hope, but who else? All the big-name American riders are on the wrong side of 30 and there seems to be no-one coming through.

Phinney, of course, but it'll be years before he turns pro and no-one knows how he'll develop.

It's always a good thing when another sponsor JOINS cycling instead of leaving it!

Yeah, as long as the money keeps rolling in everythings cool right?

No, but without it, we lose our (sorry, I don't know if you agree) my favorite sport. And that money keeps pro cyclists earning a living and helps fund more anti-doping too (UCI requires a certain % goes toward that now).

I kind of agree. Just that I'm against the 'cash is king' rule of pro racing sponsorship. I think some money and some sponsors have brought us all perilously close to the edge of losing this sport for good. If we had more spnsors and DSs like Garmin I would wholeheartedly agree but why should I be pleased that the Kazak govt sponsors a protour team? With their track record I want them as far away as poss from my sport.

Here is the proof. See their first squad meet.

  • I've noticed Lance talking to Boonen and Cav quite a bit.
I think Boonen is now a classics rider.

I don't think it's possible these days to design a team that is both a yellow jersey and green jersey team.

Last year Rabobank got the Green Jersey and came fourth (later 3rd) on GC.

Garmin has been competitive in both too but Astana is stacked in one direction and Columbia the other. Seems to be wave of the future. Not that I don't think Thor deserves green, he clearly does after what he did the other day, but Columbia is the dominant sprint finish team for 2 years now.

Somertimes I get the feeling that you don't like Lance because he's rich? Unless you have taken vows of poverty I doubt you(like me), would complain a lot if your own bank account swelled a little.:wink:

Not at all. I've met people with a lot more money than Lance and I'm a capitalist myself.

Isn't it interesting though that the comeback under the guise of Livestrong is about cancer. But the announcement of a new team is on the website which isn't the cancer one but the money making one.

you're under the mistaken opinion that there's a lot of money being made by him from that website.
Everybody that wants to contribute knows where to go.
Lance makes a lot of money, but it's not from the .com or some stake in Demand Media which is a small privately held company that may not even be making a profit at this point.
Are you thinking people are drinking to much of that drink advertised on the site? or buy too many of the 3 dollar iphone apps to connect members to the calorie tracker? is that terrible? Or is it the paid memberships that aren't even mentioned on main page? Or is it all the bad free information that you don't like?
the drink ad and the iphone app ads are the only advertising on the site as long as i've been going there.

Why do you think he's a person driven by greed?

    Really?

I know he needs a better team, but surely he'd want to be number one man wherever he went

Will they let the dog on the team bus? What if it gets a sniff of blood, it could go horribly wrong.

Lance is trying to get the Schlecks over to Radio Shack - He's asked Eddy Merckx to put a word in with Johnny (they were team mates)

So, next year's Shack tour team will be Lance and the 8 best water carriers in the world?
Should make for an exciting race.....
