Do you drink alcohol?

I love a post ride cider in the summer, typically consume 6-7 pints on a bender once a month or so, and refuse to acknowledge hangovers!
Rarely drink at home so I guess my tent is pitched firmly on the "social drinker's" campsite.

Almost 20 years since I gave up alcohol, cannot imagine the circumstances that I would ever want one again.Complicating matters since 19650

Hmm, having read everybody else's responses I may have worked out why I am not getting much faster.
I've lost track of how many early Saturday or Sunday morning rides have been lost to hangovers. Never mind the odd mid-week bottle of wine here and there.
Must do better. If only the offie wasn't less than a hundred yards from my front door I may have a chance.0 -
drink nearly everyday, bottle of wine or so, would like to give it up but finding it hard. Come about 8pm i'm just gagging for booze?
How the heck do you get to be teetotal?0 -
No binge drinker option?? I'm a propper binge drinker! Nothing for weeks, then a skin full on a night out! I'm a all or nothing type of bloke!
I don't drink at home. Just when meeting friends or celebrating etc. I'm probably coming across sounding like a bit of a hooligan, but am not, honest."I spend my petrol money on Bikes, Beer, Pizza, and Donuts "

I said once a month or less but it's more like never. I guess back in my sophomore year of high school when I thought going out on weekends and getting plastered was cool I would drink once a month or less.
However, as of lately I haven't had alcohol in little over two months and before that I hadn't had it for about a year. Oh and by the way, two months ago I didn't get plastered or anything. I just had a good pale ale while fishing. No biggie and drank it really slow.0 -
How about most days?
A can of beer after work and often a glass of wine.
Just exercise it off the next day.
Tee totallers are boring and wierd. Usually.0 -

every day. I'm happy with it. Not had a hangover in months (since the last big BBQ we had).
Jasit looks a bit steep to me.....0 -
usually about once a week, but like others hate hangovers, so dont get drunk every week. big difference between enjoying a couple of nice drinks and getting bladdered.
Big change came for me when I grew out of the wanting to go out in town thing....can't be bothered with all the empty heads.Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.

6 or 7 pints on a saturday night (heading out in a few minutes), 2 pints about 4 nights a week
never(ish) in the house, at least I never buy any to drink in the house, but might cadge some off wor lass
always aim for ten pints a week max, but never manage it
I was on the sick for a week once but wasn't ill ( cataract operations ), so went out drinking every lunch time. Seemed great at first, but after about 3 days I was bored out of my mind. Yet some people do it every day.
everything in moderation etc0 -
i dont like the taste of alchohol...
but im a teenager... 'nuff said 8)0 -
I usually have a couple of beers or glasses of wine at home on a Friday night, occasionally at the pub instead. I rarely go out and get plastered. I don't see the point any more - it costs a bomb, especially the taxi home, I end up feeling sick anyway (like someone before said, it goes to my stomach, not my head), and most of the next day is wasted with a hangover.
Today was one of those days. Went to the local last night and decided to go out to town as well, hadn't been for ages. Spent lots on beer when I've been trying to watch my money, plus the taxi home is now £10, and only now do I feel like eating something now the hangover has faded. Started watching the Tour live on ITV4, the shots at the beginning with the helicopter circling round the riders and the motorbike cameras leaning this way and that through the corners weren't pleasant
I could quite easily go teetotal.0 -
I just have the one bottle of beer a day..

Yes, I thought you must be. You misspelt alcohol, failed to capitalise I'm, missed the apostrophe in I'm and don't and didn't start either sentence with a capital letter.
I blame text messaging.

Blame it on the booze..my swore he'd never drink beer. Sort of keeping his promise, he drinks Fosters..considering a DNA test (but then at his age my drink of choice was Long Life.. based purely on size of can for the money so hoping he will learn,,)Martin S. Newbury RC0 -
same, so i get round it by drinking cider0
-
Yep, drink Stella well you have too. Probably drink more then i should, but with that said if you ain't racing so what.
i find a lot of riders whom are doing sportives or racing at a lower level take it far to serious and need to chill out a few beers will not hurt you, in fact they might help you carbo loading and all that.0 -
Usually once or twice per week. I've given serious thought to giving up due to my increasingly worse hangovers. (i don't binge but the hangovers seem to be getting more severe.) My poison is lager or Highland malt whisky (lagavulin) mmm nice with a dash of irn bru :P0

Depends on the variety. Some are much yummier than others, at which point cue contributions from the real ale buffs [1] (me included!), single malt fans, wine experts, etc., etc.
My cue
I couldn't vote as I drink 4/5 days a week but not to the point of getting drunk. A glass of wine with dinner, or a cold bottle after a ride.
But my real addiction is proper beer - ale - which i have only converted to recently.
If I see a new beer - I have to try it
These days though - I rarely get drunk - and almost never have hangovers. I'm one of those lucky buggers who can control their drinking - I know when to stop. Maybe it's the Spanish in me. Europeans seem to be able to control their drinking.0 -
I used to drink a lot and am a big fan of some of the lagavulins and bushmills, both of which are thankfully hard to come by in Thailand.
This year though, I have cut down a lot, and have pretty much stopped drinking altogether. Right now, I am just enjoying the riding too much, and I sweat a lot less when riding in the extreme heat here if I have not had any alcohol recently.0 -
Haven't had a drink since last Wednesday.
Cut down to 1 session (tonight, yipee!) per week as training for MTL Pennine Challenge. Apparently, there's a broom wagon at 10 hours0 -

I drink most days. Last night I had two bottles of bitter, the night before I had a bottle of cider and half a bottle of wine - that's typical. I try not to get bladdered if i go out though. I'd say i'm on about 25-35 units I week. I never dip below the recommended minium of 21 units a week'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0
-
I have about 5 units per year! Don't much like the taste of the stuff, really.0

I enjoy a 'controlled loss of control' that's why I drink alcohol and think my riding style are great...even if others don't.
Seriously though I love the taste of certain forms of alcohol - decent red wine, malt whiskey etc but that doesn't mean that I like the taste of all forms of alcohol. I don't like vodka for instance.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0
