I agree Rob. Astana are still very strong and Levi was never going to win.

He's always been there or thereabouts. But he would have been a good weapon for Astana, they could have sent him up the road and force others to chase.

Aren't the BBC great. Article on Levi being out and using a picture of Zubeldia:

Funnily enough, I think LA would be even less likely to let him go than he would Bertie.

And why wouldn't Wig the Twig be clean AND be able to perform well at the Tour?

Because if he is clean, and others aren't, then he'll drop down the rankings like a stone in the third week

What's his chances of hanging on through the Alps and on the Ventoux, and stepping up one place onto the podium in the final TT?

You'd need a serious bout of swine flu affecting the other teams for that to happen.

That would explain Evans' lack of form (and appearance) then

Man that sucks! He was in really good position, perhaps his best ever this late in the tour.

  • I'm really bummed about Levi. I've always been a fan of this real trouper.
He had a shot at redemption for having a bad day at the Giro.
His fitness was the highest I've ever seen and the years are ticking down in his carrerre.
I simply stretched some ligaments in my wrist once in a low speed fall when I lost the chain about 3 revs short of a turn on a short steep lowest gear climb and it bugged me for 18 months.
Don't expect him back this year.
