Knee pain whilst pedaling

For the last couple of rides, I have been getting some knee pain (front). It started during a 40 mile ride on Sunday, then was immdeiately there on my commute to work Monday morning, and then completely ruined my cycle home in the evening (uphill).
The thing is, when I am not cycling there is no pain. Obviously I shouldn't have cycled on the Monday after the Sunday ride, although I have had this pain on occasion before, but it has eased during the ride.
I have adjusted cleat position and put the saddle back slightly. As there is no pain now, should I get back on the bike again tomorrow to check if it is a position thing or rest it for a while? I want to jump back on the bike, as I get grouchy now without riding!
cheers

Thanks, I've read this already, and my adjustments are based on this. I guess my question is, as I have no pain at the moment, should I get back on the bike?0 -
Certainly I would, especially if there is no pain off the bike. I would however take it easy and not put as much effort in. If you don't get any pain then you can increase to your normal intensity.
Make sure you adjustments are relatively small though and try and do one thing at a time (ie/. cleats then pedal) as this will help localise the problem.
If the pain comes back quickly and is reasonably severe then I would give it a week or so off.Contador is the Greatest0 -
Thanks.
My plan therefore is for a flat ride tomorrow and see how it goes.0 -
