Litespeed Dilemna

I ordered a Litespeed Xicon frameset a couple of months ago to use as my winter/trainer/commuting bike. I was given a good deal on this from my LBS.

I have just been told that Litespeed have fubar and all the XL frames have been made as Ls by mistake! I have been told it could be a few months wait!

However, spanner in the works, they have said I can have a Siena (the next model up) for the same price as a full price Xicon. Effectively I will be saving 800 quid on a Siena.

I would have to put some more money towards this which I will just about scrape but I'm not sold on the red paintjob on the front of the Siena and it would be a similar wait to the Xicon to get one in a brushed finish, I wouldn't be able to afford to get it redone afterwards either...

What do I do?!?

I was tempted to get one of Planet X's deals but they don't have my size left. Lynskey, Sabbath, Enigma are all options but I'd rather deal with my LBS who are always very good to me.

Aaaargh...

Sounds like you are tempted to spend a lot of cash for something that is not what you really want just because it seems a good deal :?
Your LBS will not go broke if you buy something you really do want elsewhere.
Also do you really believe they made all the frames the wrong size

It's 300 quid more, I really would prefer a Siena it's just the colour. Maybe I'd like it? I'm going to have another look tomorrow morning.

It's a problem with the jig apparently, the distributor are rather red faced about it...

I really like my LBS, they are very good to me hence I am very loyal to them...

    God, I sound like Will!

I have a 2007 Siena, get one, bite the blokes arm off if you have to, the red looks dodgy in photos but cracking in the flesh. Stiff, light and flash I luurve mine.

I've gone from being mildly amused at the prospect of the Xicon, to disappointment, to rather excited in the space of a day!

Looks like a good frame, but jsut bear in mind you'll have to take some slack when people say you have a pink bike

    Pink?

Had a look this morning, it looks really good actually!

I may even transfer all my Sram Red overto it and just have the one bike!

Look mate, its just about appropriate to subject me Airborne Carpe Diem to all the crud, crap and risk that winter commuting throws at it, but I suspect you would regret commuting on a Siena 7 SRAM Red pretty quick. It never again will look quite as clean as it was on the weekend ride, even if its just in your head.

This is how I justified the Scapin to myself. Remember, bikes are like cute little homeless kittens. We must house as many as space and wallet allow.

    Decision made,

The Siena will become BestBiketm with the red, DA wheels etc.

The Look will become the beater/trainer with the Ultegra/DA /Powertap...

Decided on Beater, not set up yet (needs decision on setback post or not, so it's currently sporting the Thomson Elite post and saddle off my MTB) and the headset spacers are at their highest, will dial in a position and cut the steerer.

Green tyres and red look a mess IMO but I had no choice on the frame colour and the tyres are my favourites.

When everything is sorted I will take proper pics...

I'm gld the Siena has turned up for you Nap. You'll have to post back on how she rides, once you've had chance to give her a shake-down. 8)

...and yes, the green tyres will have to go. Pro race 3's in red, perhaps?

    Cheers.

Re the tyres, if anything it will be Conti GP 4000S or Force/Attack. But, the Vittorias really are that good I may, for once in my life, go for function over form

    Oh my.

Went out for the first bimble today.

It's like a magic carpet! Feels so smooth it's deceptively quick...

Looking forward to getting the position sorted and taking it on a proper ride.

I bet you can't wipe the grin off your face! :D
The white & red Fizik saddle I noted you have ear-marked in another thread will suit it very well too.
btw. I noted your interest in hifi - CD or vinyl?

Nice, green tyres though? What about schwalbe ultremos with the red stripe ? I run GP4000s which are the nuts.

    Form and function. Nice.

I've ditched the red tyres on my Look and now have black Force/Attack after I saw the light.

I just wish Vittoria did the Open Paves in black. They are my most fave tyre ever.

Skydog, the main hifi is CD, the CD player is better than any Vinyl I've heard (I've heard some top stuff too), not least due to the fact that getting good Vinyl is hard, the better the kit, the more it shows up the deficiencies in the pressing. My CD player was a bottom of the range dCS one, (at £6.5k!), the ones above it are even more astounding.

That said, I have an LP12 in the upstairs system and do enjoy a bit of a spin...

    Err, actually, I can't find any :(

    Always that damn green.

In fact, Vittoria only list Green/black on their very own site.
