  • Well done Gaz! :) An inspirational tale and encouraging to others who hope to lose a few stones.

If you fancy trying something similar in September and seeing a bit of Scotland at the same time, there's the annual Glasgow to Edinburgh charity ride (Pedal For Scotland). Did it last year and it inspired me to dump the car and the bus whenever possible. (Alas, I haven't lost much weight since, but I do have a fine collection of cycling clothing, which is now encroaching into the wife's wardrobe space.)

16 stone is hardly a few

More like a small cow lifted off his back

Could you imagine trying to cycle while carrying what amounts to a fairly heavy bloke on your back at the same time???

Christ - that's just it in to perspective for me - you've lost a person heavier than me in weight. Feck.

well, you say that and I agree that it will slow down but if you increase your cycling (as you are doing), take care of your diet (as you are also doing) you will achieve it I reckon. At the end of the day you are 22st now and you did lose 16st in one year (I am 6’ 6” and 15st!!!) I think you can loose half of that in another year.

You can always have a bigger challenge next year like so you have something to look forward to and work for!

Same with sheep when I'm down in the coutryside proper at the father in laws walking through the fields! They all seem to bunch together and then you get an aggressive looking ram at the front........bbbbbbbbbaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh

It may not be the best thing to admit, but I do end up chasing sheep up the bridlepath some mornings... they've found a hole in the fence about 3/4 of the way up. Of course when I come tanking up, they panic and go belting up the path. Well I say belting - they can't really get much above 14mph :?

Oh, and who reckons that GB155 should rename his account to MadCow in (ahem) light of his weightloss amounting to the aforementioned MadCow?

I think you will do it as well.

It may slow down but you have the right attitude, setting targets (mcr 100), rewards (new bikes), and have obviously seen the benefits of losing weight.

Keep it up is what I am trying to say.

But then even if you did not lose another ounce after today you have still lost someone the size of me.....and I ain't small!
