I'm on a train, waiting to go back to Old Trafford to pick the car up. I can report that I saw Gaz en route. There were special circumstances, which I'm sure he will include in his report. Don't want to steal his thunder. The last 10 miles or so were horrible; bad headwind in Lytham or somewhere like that - lasted all the way to Blackpool.
Almost got cramp after about 45 miles or so. Could feel my legs trying to seize up, but luckily it held off. \o/
Saw two accidents which looked serious. Hope the riders are OK.0 -
Looks as though he got into the finish around 16:270

They did look bad, both riders were not moving, the one in Haigh Hall happend a few secs before we passed, I nearly came a cropper in there and ended up off road in the mud. Didn't see anyone en-route, sounds like Gaz was somewhat behind me. Well done everyone, roll on next year.www.justgiving.com/aidyneal Cycling Manchester to Blackpool. Look out for number 16910

I'm relatively new round here and I have to say thats an amazing effort, gives inspiration to us all. I started riding last year when I was working in London and lost a few stone, and that was hard enough and difficult to maintain, but that is one amazing story.
Hope the ride went well today!0 -
The rider who was hit by a car I think near Heigh Hall was white as a ghost and not moving when I passed
There was another spectacular crash, guy on a racer doing around 20mph on the dual carriage way and for no reason went completely over the handle bars landed on his helmet and the bike crashed down on him then both rider and bike rolled over each other a couple of times. He got straight up and took bike to side of road all the spokes were snapped!
Whether spokes snapping was a result of the crash or what the crash caused I don't know  If he hadn't have had a helmet on i'd reckon he may not be here now.
First time i've done the ride and as I was expecting Heigh Hall climb to be one super steep sharp climb it was a nice surprise when all the climb/flat/climb/flat steady gradiant turned out the be the climb I had been dreading
The worst bit was final 15 miles heading towards the beach and then down the promenade with those headwinds! Took like 2 hours to cover 15 miles
Loved it, 8 of us raised £2k for christies and will be doing it again next year.0 -
Said hello to Gaz somewhere near the start (about 10-miles in). (Gaz, I was the person who introduced myself as "Jim", which is my real name, as opposed to a school nickname...).
Some of my 126-colleagues saw the guy who had been hit by the car, he was snorting the happy stuff in the ambulance.
There was a lot of headwind at the end, but my commute was obviously good training, so the worst part for me was the 8-miles on my knackered mountain bike to a colleague to give me a lift at the morning....
Hope everyone enjoyed themselves0 -
Many congratulations Gaz, I'm looking forward to reading the full report.
It's probably a good idea to set yourself another target to aim for now, I find it so much easier to train when it's for a specific event. a few more metric centuries and you'll be contemplating an imperial!!! Go Gaz Go!"Impressive break"

Unless anyone else did, that was me (black & white "skeleton" jersey, and I was wearing the tan musette I have in my avatar). Now you've given away the "special circumstances" I hinted at in my earlier post. Looking forward to the report.0 -
