Mystique, some riders - Froehlinger included - have SRM telemetry data:

Today is the longest stage of the Tour and has the highest finish too.
  • kleber - nice to see....I think they are delayed by a bit though - all currently showing -1

Any reason for Kim Kirchen to be riding at the very back on the climb??

Would be surprised to see the break pulled back today. However, it still remains to see if any of the GC contenders will pull back time on each other/Astana

Wish Saxo bank would assert themselves a bit. Not sure how Franks doing (or feeling) this year.

Any ideas on who is likely to be the best out of the breakaway? Martinez and Gutierriez are riders i have heard of before. Having said that, Pineau was with the leaders at the foot of Alpe d'Huez last year. He did end up 12:10 down on sastre at the top though.

Maybe the other teams are content for Astana to do lots of work. IMO the only real way to beat the Astana leaders is to tire the team out first. Astana could be in for a lot of work this year.

I think Astana might be happy to let the break have 3:30 - 4 minutes at the finish. Takes less effort than clsoing down the break completely, puts Nocentini in yellow, makes Ag2R have to defend, so Astana won't have to do too much in the next few days.

Egoi Martinez is 6 minutes down and is now nearly 12 minutes up the road. Personally, I wouldn't be that comfortable giving him too much time. He finished top 10 in the Vuelta last year.

Similar circumstances too, wasn't it? He went off down the road in a break, and Astana just let him have the jersey for a few days.

Good footage of Canncellara steaming down the mountain on his own.

Its a long day today - 200km +. This should mean that the breakaway loses a lot of time on the final climb. having said that there are nine of them up there so maybe the distance wont have as much of an impact. Would expect them to lose 6 minutes on the final climb.

This has to be the best scenery I've ever seen on the TdF. Absolutely stunning.

I'll be very surprised if anyone in the break wins the stage. I think that mountain's going to knock out more people than they think and I think Cadel's going to attack more than he ever has before. Hopefully, Andy Schleck will leave them all in the dust though. :)

How much time does everyone think Cancellara will lose?

Agreed - would love to see Andy win this stage, or atleast top 5 today.

    1 - Don't use back brake

    2 - Don't use front brake

    3 - repeat rules 1 and 2

Almost a 13 minute lead with under 60k to go now. Near the bottom of the last, long big climb of the day.

Astana need to pull back at least 5 mins or the Yellow goes elsewhere.
