perhaps u can help me also ? buzzing around my lid last night whilst out on a trail, i flicked it away and felt it still on my finger so panicked and kinda shook my hand and whatever it was went, from that moment on my finger went numb and tingly and stil is alittle bit now 24hrs later. no marks noticed at all. any ideas on what it may have been?

Just to update.....finger was numb for 2 days.....all better now.

Almost certainly a horse fly, they're fairly common and there seems to be loads of the bu&&ers this year. they can be anywhere, around water, lakes etc and in forests (we were fighting them off at Gisburn Forest today) they also can bite you through your shirt, as I found out. usually comes up in a big itchy red lump, like a mozzi bite.
