Get looking on eBay too mate, you never know.....
    Yep, just maybe...
I had a bike nicked from outside work and found it advertised on gumtree the next day. Arranged to meet the guy to buy it (phoned Dwayne to arrange backup on the way) but he didn't show. Gutted cos I would have given him a dig from each of us on here.

But with the efforts they went to and the quality of bike involved you're probably dealing with a different kind of thief.

Sorry for your loss. Makes me sick to hear stories like this. Scumbags should be shot, there really is no place for them.

just heard from ym boss today, that I can get £400 off cycle to work scheme, while this is nowhere near enough to replace my bike perhaps it could be used to buy few bike parts.
Contacted the schools insurer - he reckons I won't get a penny, but I'm still going to try - There were cameras and a sign saying "CCTV protection for your security and protection" And as they were disconnected I'm wondering if this is a loophole. Fingers crossed
The school may have some liability, whether their insurance covers it or not is not the deciding factor. Establishing whether they have any liability may not be easy, would involve some homework and maybe a small claims court claim. You may of course, not wish to claim from the school if they are uninsured.

Been a bit of a development today!!! :):):)

Was on the phone to home insurance, the advisor told me bikes were covered upto £500, and that halfords would get in touch with me to organise a replacement. You can imagine my response, I explained there was no way halfords could get a replacement and the was a non standard bike. HE then told me our policy has insurance upto £5,000 for ANY non standard item, and that it would be worth compiling a list of with RRP's of frame and parts and I COULD POSSIBLY get a like-for-like replacement. FUCKIN GET IN!

Bad news in I have just laid £700 quid out this week on parts and a new stumpy frame, oh well.

wish me luck with my claim!

Very sorry for your loss. :( I am now very paranoid about my bikes at home. I live in a very low crime area but (and I say this without being racist/predjudiced) we do have a lot of season workers come over for the summer. Its a known fact that crime goes up during the summer around here.

I really hope you get your bike back.

to be fair, in my experience the local toe rags go out on the rob more often when gypsies/immigrants turn up because it's natural for folk to assume it's them, not the locals. that's usually why a crime rate goes up, cos there are patsies around to take flak.

I had my custom Kona Stuff (parts) stolen two years ago.

It was locked up at a campsite, and the thieving pricks stole everything they could around the locks!

I got replacement quotes for the stolen parts from Halfords and Leisure Lakes. Managed to claim on home insurance and got a nice fat cheque!

Hope it all works out for you!

I can sympathize, I recently had my orange EVO 6 nicked from a secure area in the building where I live. The police made me feel like they really cared when they posted me my crime number.

The fact the thieving bastard lived opposite me, the police had a warrant out on him and he'd been loading nicked gear into the back of a van in broad day light did nothing to rouse them from there daily jobs of sitting on there fat arses, eating donuts and collecting speeding fines....

No sign of my bike though, hope whoever is riding it now knocks there front teeth out as they slide off the egg beater pedals!!!

    Feel better now.

Don't think you should be looking to blame the school - surely it's up to you to have the right insurance.

There's another bike shop called on yer bike on Roman Road

The local Spesh dealer is Bike Scene in Guisborough (might try to get it valued?)

We have a Cash Generator and a Cash Converters - both Linthorpe road.

Which school was it? There's no doubt they would have been local I'll have a drive around - they will be wheelying them into oncoming traffic by now - sees to be the Darwin Award passtime of choice around the rougher areas of boro at the moment

Oh wow sorry just spotted that it was Newham Bridge

Your bikes were parked within 30 yards of one of the 10 most deprived council wards in the UK

It's within 2 miles of mine - I've got my eyes peeled mate.

Although I feel sorry that you have had your bike stolen a bit of common sense might have stopped the whole thing happening in the first place.
For God sake man, it was a school in Middlesborough! what did you expect? that place has the cheapest whores in the UK. - £5 a trick.
Would you go to the toilet in a pub and leave you wallet and mobile phone on the table unattended?

I hope you get the insurance sorted out! :D
