eggbeaters with platform
cheap DHB £35 shoes from wiggle.0 -
Shimano cage spd jobs (M565 or something - can never remember) and some spesh tahoe shoes - good shoe, not too stiff, can walk in it, great pedal no clogging and easy to engage but with good size cage if you want to be out of the clips.
V8's and old trainers for commuting so I can do skid stops and jump off at the bike rack mainly! Oh and go to the gym straight off bike!Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -
Black MG1's and some old adidas forest hills, do the job pretty well!0
-
DMR V12's and 5-10 Impact's Low. Lovely and grippyI don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it0
-
Whatever peddles came on the bike and a pair of Puma Clydes.
Probably switch over to Karrimors as the weather deteriorates.Claud Bulter Cape Wrath D27 (2009)

Running shoes and Wellgo platforms
I always used to run SPDs but I have more fun with platforms and that's what it's all about.0 -
V8s and some bargain bucket Karrimor walking shoes/trainers I picked up from the local sports shop. You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
My crimson DMR V8s (drool) support some Emerica skate shoes
Pretty awesome combo0 -
Spesh Tahos and XT SPDs on the MTB, M520s on the road bike (with the same shoes).0
-
M520s and Specialized BG sport or MG-1s and a pair of DC skate shoes.0
-
M970s and Pearl izumi X-Alp Seeks for trail riding, Shimano M-300s for if the day calls for high speed gravel trails and not much else.0

I'm not allowed SPDs due to a knackered leg so I use Wellgo MG-1s on the Soul, and I've got a set of V8s on the spare. Both perfectly good but the Wellgos are lighter.
For shoes, I've got a set of 5-10 Basics but I don't use them much, for most riding I wear a pair of cheap old Vans... No denying that the 5-10s are grippier but I just find it's irrelevant, the Vans have more than enough grip and I never slip with them. (oh, I do occasionally lose a pedal but not in situations where more grip helps) Just hype, IMO. My Vans are cheaper, comfier, and better made, and far better for walking in. Oh, and they look better tooUncompromising extremist0 -
I wear this:
The grippiest and cheapest trainers ever. :twisted:0 -
Usually Specialized BG Comp shoes and M520 pedals. Very occationally 661 Taki shoes and Superstar Nano flat pedals.
I'd definitely say knowing how to ride both is the best way to go, unfortunately I'm crap on flats now after a few years on SPDs.0 -
wellgo summat-or-others and merrells in winter and i've just started using old Saloman XA Pro 3D Ultras for maximum breathability in summer0

I wanted some shoes that would grip when pushing your bike up muddy hills etc and this quote stuck in my mind and I remembered seeing the aforementioned karrimor shoes at sports soccer, anyhoo I picked a pair up for £20 quid and there brilliant, nice and comfortable, gripped well on my local quagmire-get-off-and-push hill and they stayed dry.
But I couldnt get my feet to grip on the pedals due to the grips of the shoes so I took a knife to them, cut off most of the grips on the forefoot leaving some on the very front and one side and obviously left the grip on the heel and now I have a perfect pair of riding shoes for 20 quid !0 -
pair of v12's on my bike and pair of 5/10 impacts on my feet, ride a bit of everything from xc to light dh.
