+1 for the Spesh BG Road Elites. Excellent value for money and a nice wide, comfy fitting. I have had a pair for 2yrs and they show little sign of wearing out.

DDD worth trying 'em on of course. I have to get size 12 and I'm an 10.5 or 11 in any other shoe.

Also if you order DHB, you're not I know but in case you do, order a size bigger than you think you need.

    For a size 10 order a DHB 46

They are the ugliest, most crass and tasteless cycling shoes ever created. They look like they were designed my committee. I love Sidi, but these are worse than a colnago paint scheme.

Sort of +1. The BGs I bought are still mightily comfortable. I say "sort of" because I've only ever bought one pair, but , when they go, I'll buy a new pair.

Couldn't agree more. Actually, there are/were two, aren're there?

There was the Bettini one and now that spin the bottle/shoe one. Who in their right mind created that donkey poo?

The Bettini one was running last season, before he retired.

The CX version would have to be made by crazy Belgies and involve lots of mud. There's potential...

I've never tried any other makes but I'm sticking to what I like.

I'm going to get the s works road shoe with the wire closure mechanism and swap from my current spd cleats.

I would have got them this week but they didn't have my size. As others have said they seem to come up small and I need a size 12 and they don't keep these in stock.

I did buy a toupe gel saddle which I've yet to test on a long ride. The guy in the shop sat me on a roubaix comp which had the saddle on for me to try.

I'm in love with that bike. Must have one:..somehow. :D

I find the Specialized shoes to be rather nice. Even the cheap £60 ones. :)

Although, all these people saying that the sizing is off are telling lies. :P I find a 44 on normal shoes (Converse / skate shoes) and these both fit well considering their purpose.

Proper shoes (cycling ones) are supposed to be tight, yes?

My Nike Poggios are narrower than my cheaper BG (£70-ish a few years ago). The sole is also a lot stiffer. When I bought the BGs, I tried the Sidis, and they were a narrower shoe. Don't know about other brands though.

I've also gone through 2 pairs of cleats so I've been wondering this myself and assessing my riding style and its probably a combination of things.

I one leg wheel the bike with the left shoe so the tip of the shoe has worn away. The left cleat was completely worn compared to the right which barely looked used.

I walk a hell of a lot in them considering they aren't designed to.

I had no overshoes throughout winter.

I have fallen arches so the shoes are outter shape and I'm a size 8 (I could stuff my feet into a 7 but we won't discuss that) the shoes are 10 and are a tad big.

I'm going to buy from a shop (not the net) this time round, try them on make sure they fit and now that I don't need to spend much time out of the pedals hope they last longer. If not I may change the entire pedals to SPDs or something where I can use Mountain bike shoes that are more robust.

I dont mean to harp on about Specilized shoes, but Im going to anyway.

DDD if you have fallen arches the spec shoes may help. You can buy 3 different types of insert to support your foot. In the Specialized Concept Store in Ruislip they check this before you try on a shoe and put the correct insert in for you.

I discovered on a recent visit that I had the wrong insole which may have been contributing to "hotfoot" numbness in the ball of my foot below the middle toes.

I had bought the shoes a year ago from my local LBS who didnt test for this at all.

    May be worth a visit.
