    One Vision - Queen
    Back in Black - AC/DC
    Cochise - Audioslave
7 Nation Army - White Stripes
Riverboat song - Ocean Colour Scene

If you discounted the old classics you wouldn't have a lot left to go at.

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

I've not read the whole thread, so if anyone has already suggested Therapy? apologies

Tracks I would recommend are 'Going Nowhere', 'Screamager' & 'Die laughing', all from the album Troublegum.

Also some Mad Caddies, if you like Ska punk stuff

  • @lawman - thanks for 30 seconds to mars - totally love the track 'The kill' but never knew what it was or who did it. Just had it on loop for a 2 hour ride and shaved 7 minutes off my pb! ;)

@Rob Mafia - Vulgar display of power is a total classic! Walk, F***ing Hostile, This love and Hollow are definite soundtracks to my youth!

Have to scan through my Marilyn Manson CD's to see if theres anything with the pace for a good ride
  • Sublime, awesome music, a must for anyones ipod, in my opinion
Machine Head, Metallica, Slayer good for climbing and descents sitting about and drinking beer
Sex Pistols, Rancid, Rise Against, Hatebreed, The Misfits, Black Flag, The Skids, Brand New, Anti-Flag, The Unseen, Alkaline Trio, The Prodigy, Pendulum, Andy C, London Elektricity.......i could list bands for ages, aslong as they drown out the voices then its all good
i spent all me money on whisky and beer!!!

If It Kills Me's a quality cycling track, the beat's just right and it's full of energy...

Not rock / punk / grunge but listened to the Stop Making Sense (Talking Heads) entire album today while out on the sun baked hills. That's got some serious drive and energy. Track off it for those not familiar...

Very nearly got off the bike and had a hill disco at one point. 8)

If you like that you should like "The Name Of This Band Is Talking Heads" - double live album from their early days 1978 - 1981 I think. Disc 1 is best.

wouldn't pump my speed - I'd have to stop, fling the MP3 player to the ground and then stamp on it any number of times until I stop feeling the PAIN!!

aye, got some great tunes on it and all delivered with consummate aplomb by one of the all time great bands. Got good versions of I Zimbra, The Great Curve and Crosseyed And Painless on it. I'm slowly getting round to replacing my old vinyl with digital copies due to a lot of it looking like someone's ice skated on them rendering them worthless now. Still, happy days and good times. 8)

Definitely any pendulum tune. My favourite overall band let alone for biking. As i properly got into biking last year these tunes were behind me all the way and properly got me in the mood. The other side, fasten your seatbelts and tarantula are among the best for biking. But my all time fave is the ultimate noob track Propane nightmares - the most listened to song on my ipod.

Also try the prodigy, (old stuff is better particularly off fat of the land and experience) and the old metal scene with some iron maiden and metallica beating out.
Mabie forest. Maybe one of the greatest places to ride.

My current ipod MTB playlist is as follows:

    Come Home - james
    Setting Sun - Chemical Brothers
    It's a long way - ACDC
    Hellraiser - Ozzy Ozbourne
Just like paradise - David Lee Roth
    Fortunate Son - Creedence Clearwater
    Turn it on - Genesis
Run to the hills - iron maiden
    Don't stop believin - Journey
    Mississippi Queen - Mountain
    Territorial Pissing - Nirvana
Road To nowhere - Talking Heads

If I want to have something more relaxing then I always have a mixture of Ulrich Schnauss tracks. For those who don't know of his stuff - check this link. He is fantastic.

And lastly, thanks to the person that recommended Arcade Fire - not heard of them and they seem to be very good - many thanks.

jay 12, lesson in good music, if ur gonna pick anything form the 70's/80's then pick some variety rather than sticking with the rock genre

    Children of the damned
    iron maiden
    22 acacia avenue
Can i play with madness 8)

how dare thee insult the funk!!!!

acdc is good but its all the same. the new guns and roses album sucked more balls than michael jackson, in particular shackler's revenge.

they both past it and should just bask in the glory of the old days

on a more musical note  some more :

    stooges - search and destroy
    hendrix - foxy lady
    wolfmother joker and the thief

anythin by the chili's is a good way to get fired up, especially the early stuff :D
