Don't encourage sarajoy, she's leaving me standing in the stats chart :(:( . I've told her to get proper handlebars, will leave the commando lecture to DDD on the 18th.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

I eased myself into commuting over a few weeks: first Friday, then Wed and Fri, then every other day then every day. I was knackered the next day at first.

I only realised it was feasible to cycle commute on my route when there were really bad roadworks and the bus took an hour and a half into work and a couple back. Even cars were taking about 90 mins each way.

My round trip now takes about 90mins in reasonable weather.

    Way to go JP

Sarajoy, how's it gone so far this week?

Not bad, though I am pretty tired and my legs just want a rest (going dancing tonight though, oops...) - no cycling this weekend for me (this has almost been a 6-day commuting week as I went got a 16 mile ride on the Sunday preceding it)!

I now know I can do it and not die - which is nice - but next week there'll def be a rest day or two!

I'm wondering how painful a full week commute next week for me will be. I've managed 2 days in a row, and I can already feel my calfs and @rse not appreciating it... I really need to get fitter

Try adding an extra day each week so your bits get used to it. You'll wonder how you ever used local transport/drove after a while, then you'll want to ride even in the rain and cold (at least, that's what's happened to me)  :D

My Oyster card is feeling very unloved too :)

Well I usually have Weds as a rest day. TBH it's handy as then I get some shopping done, and can change over towels/clothes/etc at work, and generally mooch about... So I'll just go back to that :)

TBH having the hottest week so far as the full week of riding hasn't helped! Phew!

If you've done 5 days, then don't loose the momentum. You'll be fresh on Monday, and once it becomes default, you'll never look back. I reckon it took me about 5 or 6 weeks for my fitness to catchup with the mileage, but since then its been pretty easy as long as I haven't chased the A4 TT or a PB.

Well to be honest, I'm happy! I know I can do it, and so won't worry about planning in a rest day - but will have one if circumstances go that way. It's all gravy :)

    +1

Although I always try to get a PB commuting to work

 @ SJ. That's the way to do it!

Stupid question I'm sure (if you know the answer) but on the stats page what's a PF?

A visit from the fairy that shall not be named in case she decides to visit your tyres and make you spend time repairing the innertube...

(makes sign to ward off the evil eye and points to ITboffin to deflect her attention, in case I haven't been eliptical enough)

Wow! She must REALLY like him... she seems to visit him so regularly...

If you're a bit intense on the good ol' PF, you can subtract to below zero to show X in your PF tally. Just in case...

Whooooh [makes spooky noises, flees room in white bed sheet...]

Welcome to SC Stats Joycie. Add every mile, climb every hill.

My body's a bit broken this week. Had a couple of things flare up, possibly due to being run down :(

Resty-week this week, might be in the saddle a couple of times... I imagine the riding itself wasn't too bad in itself but I threw myself back into my dancing in the evenings last week as well, guh. Sniffle.

Well, at least I know I can do it. Finally Redvee gets his chance to catch me up on the SCStats ;)
