  • Yes smiler15 that is the beast in my sig, she's all finished and just had a little stretch round the roads near me, feels good, gears are indexed properly and the everything works as it should. She also seems surprsingly light for what she is designed for, don't have any scales so couldn't say exactly, but feels lighter than my old Handjob I had.

Now it's finished, I can get on with speccing my next hardtail, I think I'm gonna go Cotic, but not sure whether I want a Soul or the BFe, decisions, decisions hhhhmmmmm.

I should be ok for Next weekend as well, I'll check back on here for details and to make sure it's still going on. Rich1969 are you going over Danbury Way with the Essex lot?

I think Saturday is the best time, perhaps late morning ? Then you get a lay in and it won't be dark by the end? :)

    Hi Smiler,

Thanks for the heads up on this thread. I am visiting the parents this weekend, so won't be able to join the ride. Keep posting on here though if you're planning a ride as I am normally free and would love to join in.
  • Won't be able to make this Sat myself, but I'll keep an eye on here and hopefully can get out on another ride in the future! :D
  • i won't be about on the 21st unfortunately, y'all have fun though, i'll keep my fingers crossed for not such biblical weather

i would love to come for the ride but i am running a skills coaching session that day :(
  • how about we say meet every saturday (if u can make it) at the huntsman pub (top of lord st, hoddesdon) at between 11am and 12. that way if u can make it then thats great n if u cant for some reason, then u can come the following wk or when u can.???
it gives those who want to start earlier a chance to ride around in the woods for a while and the late risers enough time to get there. there is a car park for the huntsman that im sure those with cars can park in.
what do u all think of this??? that way we have a set place, set time n those who show show and those who dont wont feel like they gota give an excuse. :)

sounds like a good idea, and a good place to meet up too. I'll come down when I'm around, and hope others will too. I was out on wednesday and the rear mech on my hard tail managed to thoroughly break itself, so not sure i'm gunna be able to come out this saturday :?

...there is always next week. I'm fairly sure I'm around for a quick ride (28th). Anyone interested? Meet at the pub as suggested earlier at 11?
  • Has anyone been over there recently with all the rain. Just wondered how muddy it is.

  • meeting at the pub is do-able.

it's a mix, some isn't to bad, but mostly quite messy. if you've got a choice of tyre then the knobblier the better!

to be honest its pretty much a shite fest.
some of the more secret singletrack will be slippery but not ruined.
  • I was going over there up until October and there were still a few muddy parts then . I cannot imagine whats its like now. If anyone goes over there, let us know how it is

Where is the main part of the single track. I'm sure I've been on there are some point but just wondered if there are other parts I've missed. I know there are some parts where bikes are not allowed.

  • Hi Everybody

Was out in Broxbourne Woods on Sunday and saw a couple of lads on small moto x bikes, well heard them first. they seemed to be doing what appears to be the normal route that I see others cycling.

Did the same route today and its fair to say they have done a good job of churning up what was left of the good stuff. It now looks like it normally does after a full winters riding. Oh well just have to pedal a bit harder and learn how to enjoy the ruts.

Hopefully should get a ride in on Friday morning after I've finished the school drop off.

  • When I've been out locally around st albans it's not been as bad anywhere as I'd expected - ever the optimist. Love a bit of mud. Might be about saturday, I'll try and get there. Did you manage to get your rear mech sorted Smiler?

I would like to come along for the ride on Saturday. I am coming from Enfield. I could ride it but would prefer to get there by train. Closest station?
    Are we meeting at 11-12?

Okay had a look. I will be coming from Rye House rail station. How long is the actual ride that we are going on? Hope its at least 2 hours? Can someone confirm that they are going to be there? I would hate to turn up and be the only one there! Heavy rain, according to Met Office. I don’t mind the rain. Actually rain means mud and I love mud!
