Bikes must be fixed, no brakes, drop bars. No mention of pitch forks, but as sharp objects are generally barred, maybe a shovel would be more acceptable.
PS. First post.... Hi
Just a word of warning to anybody taking their fixie to Herne Hill : their website isn't very specific and says "you will be required to remove any brakes as they are not allowed on track. Drop handlebars are also required as opposed to any cow-horn style bars that some people use on road-going fixed wheel bikes.".
But when they say "remove any brakes", they don't just mean no brake-blocks and/or calipers. They also mean no brake-hoods, i.e. only pista bars allowed. I found out the hard way today after hoping it wouldn't be too strict since it was only a training session. Hope that sharing this saves somebody some disappointment.0 -
I'd forgotten about this thread! Definitely still up for an excursion to HH (not sure about the red though ).
When I went a few years ago the chaps there sorted me out with a track hire bike for the session no problems, you're right you can't have bullhorn bars or similar it has to be a a "track" bike.
I wonder if I will be able to make it past what is essentially the 'kiddies' part of the session next time???
LIT, Moonio and CW (and anyone else?) still keen to go along one day?0 -

Well, yes, but I had drop bars with just the hoods and levers. No calipers, no actual brakes. Still didn't cut it, wasn't allowed on. And they didn't have a bike that fit me. Anyway...0 -
Yes yes yes!
I have 3 pairs of bars now... I wonder if I'd get away with swapping to ones with no brakes or something. Mind you, I'm sure they'll have a bike that fits me.0 -
Oh no, unlucky0

I'm still up for going. I can watch/guard luggage if there's no bike I can hire on the day.0
