Hi Bill

if you go to the cafe at Newlands and ride through the car park you come to an open space where there is a trail. This trail leads to st Martha's hill it's about 10 minutes away and I don't remember there being a road but if there is you may be on it for about 2 minutes and it's not a busy one , as i would remember (i hate riding on roads )

DW - our old garden used to be a bit like that. we solved that little problem by moving to a flat where other people look after the garden for us

I tried to get the day off from work to do this ride yesterday but was let down by work colleagues who had (at various times) promised to cover my shift...g*ts!
