Is that the original seat post that came with the bike?.... Seems like a hell of a lot of set back to me.

No I added it on. I like layback on the seatpost suits my riding position.

Good luck in finding a Boardman spoke to a guy at work who is in the same boat as you canno get one for love nor money.

Solarpowered have you tried the 'Cycle Republic' chain?
They are Halfords new 'indipendant' cycling shops, and I'm pretty sure the model you need can be had from the Norwich branch.

    Hope that helps.....

    Paul

To my knowledge all the Cycle Republic and Bikehut standalone stores are being shut down.

I got my Boardman team carbon about two months ago. i was told by all the stores that there'd be a 6 week wait so I went home and clicked on the Halfords store site and found the nearest store to me that had one in stick. A few of the stores said that they did have stock but it had been sold, however Halfords in Tonbridge said, yes we've got one and we'll have it ready for you tomorrow. It's worth a go, don't rely on what your local store says.

Jees thats a long wait. I must have been lucky then. I walked into the Dorking bikehut store in January and picked one up there and then, from entering through the door to walking out with a fully constructed bike in less than an hour.

    Sod a 6 week wait.
    Shazam !!

NICE! :D It's set as my desktop wallpaper on my laptop  I am however questioning whether or not it's great value for money though. You can get a Planet X SL Pro Carbon for £1199 (+ shipping - not sure how much) with Ultegra and I thought Ultegra was a step up from SRAM Rivel...?:

    Planet X SL Pro Carbon - http://www.planet-x-warehouse.co.uk/acatalog/C18_Offer_SL_Pro_Carbon_-_Medium.html

What was your second choice bike ? - there is a similar problem with Ribble - alot of people have switched to planet x - which are available in 3 days - and looks a comparable bike.

If the SL Pro Carbon Ultegra Build - Medium (PLanetx) was a couple of hundred quid cheaper I'd be all over it.

There are no Team Carbons in the UK now. I found one in NI but they wouldnt ship it over to England :oD It was a try; its gone now.

With ultegra for £999?? If that was the case then they'd be out of stock too! I just wish they had a model with Shimano 105 or SRAM Rival for a bit less.

I've managed to reserve a Team Carbon (size L) at a store an hour away from me. Going to see it tonight but I suspect it's slightly too big...
  • Sorry........There are no Team MEDIUM carbons in the UK now.

There are loads of large. The large is too big, way too big for me, but it didnt stop a Halfords guy trying to sell it to me so beware!

Yeah I saw there was another L a similar distance from me. I just had a phonecall saying it was the display model. I explained that I thought it might be too big but just wanted to check and he said that was ok. We shall see.

Just out of curiosity how tall are you solar? I'm 5"9 with an inside leg of 33". I can fit comfortably on my dad's 55x55 Colnago but the Team Carbon L is a bit bigger than that.

172 cm tall with a 80 cm inside leg. The medium is just about right but i might put a slightly shorter stem on. If they have a Team (alu) in the medium try it, the geometry is the same as the carbon.

Excellent - thanks for the tip. Switching systems of measurement I'm 175cm and 83.8cm inside leg so a little taller but suspect it'll still be too big. Oh to be a couple of inches taller  Easier though would be for Halfords to get producing some more M!!! :x

    .

How much is the team carbon them ?

I was in ride cov on saturday - they had an ultegra equpped Kuota Kharma 08 - for £1350 - in meduim - if really want ultegra carbon.

I have decided to go for 105 groupset - with my mileage can't really justify the extra for ultegra.
  • £1k is my absolute limit. 105 seems to be just as good as ultegra...I think at this price point the differences require a finer eye than mine for it to matter.

Simply the Carbon team is a quality frame with 105 at a price that should be several 100 more.

Turns out it was an XL display model and not L after all. At least they let me know before I arrived :)

Thers's a nearly new one on eBay in medium... Try searching ebay.co.uk for Medium Boardman Team Carbon!
  • id suggest not buying one, they are good value for money but not great to look at, why not go for something else in that price range?

    Nearly new Carbon is

You have to be very certain it's not been in a big crash as Carbon can easily hide serious flaws in the frame. Thanks for the tip though

Well I suspect many of us do think they're nice to look at! I for one think they look better than the Planet X SL Pro or the Dolan Mythos carbon alternatives. Despite the fact that the Planet X is £200 more, there are no reviews of either of them. The Cayo came a close second in Cycling Plus to the Boardman, but weighs in almost 2lbs more and the colour design is quite "in your face"
Someone else mentioned a Kuota (spelling?) but on import (who would import a bike without having sat on it at least? international returns = pain!) and for more like £1300.
I'm not sure what other options there are? Ribble perhaps? Though from what I read they're having stocking issues too?

I wouldn't place to much emphasis on a review myself*. That aside it does look a good value for money bike. The Kuotas I mentioned have no supply problems - and I sat on two at the weekend - this was partly why I mentioned it. However it is outside the OP budget. I guess its either wait until august september time or stump up an extra couple of hundred.

I once brought some endura over shoes which a got 10/10 in c+ - these were in holes after 1 25 mile ride !

It's not on our stock file, so I don't think it will be going anywhere, although if anyone does buy it, I built it, so you can take out all aggression on Halfords shit quality builds on me :P

I rang them up earlier in the week and they said it had gone/was reserved for someone. :)
