The thing I find is that I am fine while moving on the bike. The induced breeze and proper wicking top help keep me cool(er)

As soon as I stop (for gates / lights / junctions) though... Dear God. It's like sitting in a big wet warm blanket :?

I *have* to get moving again as soon as possible, just to get the breeze back, but then that just delays the inevitable heat wave when I stop again.

The worst of it, is getting to work. I can't just jump straight in the shower - I'm generating so much heat I can't cool down enough before I need to get dressed. A cold shower doesn't help - you simply shut down the heat loss meachanism and make it worse.

So I sit outside for 5 / 10 mins and cool down naturally then have a cool shower. I do not know how I would cope without it to be honest.

Oh yeah and on the way home I obsess about the tub of chocoloate ice cream waiting for me :D

Well yes, you're not losing heat through sweat evaporating any more - but you're losing heat as it's transferred from your skin to the cold water! So a cold shower totally helps, and much more quickly than sweating. I once went on a ride in 35 degree shadeless heat in Italy and made it back to the hotel minutes before I collapsed - I spent 35 minutes in a cold shower and I honestly think it saved me from what could have been really horrible heatstroke.
