Training Effects On Body

I've been training every morning for the last month and have lost 2 stone in weight.

I normally ride 12-15 miles, but the odd occasion when i've cheated the day before on a takeaway i've done 24 miles before work.

I was 18 Stone now 16 Stone, people said i didn't look 18 stone but i certainly felt it, and due to going on holiday on July 16th, i wanted to shed some pounds.

My waist measurement has decreased significantly and i've dropped about 3 holes on my belt.

I feel a hell of a lot better, much more comfortable, and my Mrs has commented on how much better i look, and i can lean down to do my shoe laces up now without a massive obstacle in the way!

I would ideally like to get down to around 14.5/15stone and have another 6 weeks to make it happen.

However, i took my blood pressure and heart rate yesterday with my Omron Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor, my blood pressure used to be around 137-142/85-90, however its now dropped down to 117/77 and my resting heart rate is 59 BPM!

My heart rate has allways been below 70, which for an 18stone bloke i wasn't too concerned about, however now i've got it down to 59 i'm keen on trying to get it down even further.

Do you reckon its possible to drop another 1.5 stone in another 6 weeks?

Also, what about the heart rate, if its dropped to that level in 4 weeks and i'm still 16stone, will it reduce even further considering i've got about another 2 stone to loose?

    Congrats on the weight loss!

The rate of weight loss may slow down a bit, but you can probably keep the rate high enough to lose the rest in the time you want. I wouldn't put too much pressure on it though, and just concentrate on keeping up the cycling.

You are losing at a pretty good rate though, so don't be surprised if it slows.

One thing to remember is that the rides are becoming easier relatively as you get lighter and fitter, so you might want to do that longer 24 mile one more often just to make up for it ;-) Or go harder every now an then.

On the heartrate, yep it'll probably drop even further as you get fitter.

2 years ago, I was 4 1/2 stone heavier than I am now, no exercise was really used for the first stone and half (or a diet, just a change in mood). But since I've had logs of weights (and workouts) the loss down from 13 1/2 stone down to 12 stone took just 6 months, and in the 6 months since I've only lost another 5lbs even with stepped up training. I don't really have a whole lot more to lose, and would need to conciously diet now I think, simple training volume doesn't do it.

4.5 Stone loss, fantastic, you must feel really different, i now i do and i haven't even lost half that amount 'yet' :D

The weight loss has started slowing, i'm loosing about 1 pound every 3-4 days now, wheras i was loosing about 1lb per day initiallly.....

However, i'm also thinking that possibly i'm gaining more muscle now, and muscle weighs heavier than fat, so although i'm altering my body composition, loosing fat and replacing it with muscle, its not going to show on the scales unless i get a fat reading scale......

I've been dieting so far on 1500 calories per day, and as i said was loosing 1lb per day, even though i was still having 2-3 takeaways per week, but now the weight loss is slowing, i'm determined to cut the takeaways out completely and this should speed the weight loss back up so i'm back to loosing 1lb per day again.
