Comparing Bikes To Other Vehicles

I was thinking the other day how some bikes seem to mimic other vehicles or products,

Colnago= Ferrari(fast, glamarous, technically up to date but classically styled)
Pinarello= Lamborghini(fast, glamarous, technically advanced, bonkers styling)

What thoughts have you?

I think Pegoretti would be more Lamborghini than Pinarello...

Agree about the paint but I was thinking of Pinarellos crazy wavy forks and frame shapes.

Comparing them imo is a bit odd but I do it. I compare them on price and what you can get out of them for it. So when someone says "Your bike cost you £1000, you could buy a car for that" it makes me think of the peice of s*** I'd be able to get, or the fantastic bike I already have instead.

So on that front every bike over 500 quid is a Carrera S or 911 turbo.

Oh and Lambo's are flaming horrible cars. Ugly in every respect. The old Ferrari Tessarossa (the "Magnum" one), my god I hate that car too. The F430 and Enzo are sweeeeet though, even the Ariel Atom come to think of it.

Carrera/Boardman are pretty much the Skoda of the bike industry...... well made, decent kit but nobody wants to ride the badge

I reckon Specialized are the Ford of cycling and Giant the Vauxhall, Cannondale could be Chrysler maybe? Focus - BMW? Agree with the Boardman analogy above though.

Wasn't Crockett's Testarossa a fake, too? Some kitcar repro based on a Chrysler of some sort.

In the first series he had a black Daytona. That was a kit car, I think the Testarossa was real.

Spesh = Ford? I guess I could compare mine to a GT40. I real one though, in Gulf Colours.

Damn, just realised that fitting Fulcrum R3's to my Giant OCR2 is akin to wide alloys, privacy glass and an exhaust pipe you could fit a small child into on an ageing Vauxhall Nova.

Spesh = VW ie well made
Trek = Ford ie 2 a penny especially post Lance TDF
Serotta = TVR ie very quick very expensive

:shock: Matchbox Toys lied to me! I have one in the loft I think from when I was a kid...and it was a year after Magnum finished that the testa came out. :oops:
