I just measured C to T of my Trek frame and it says 54cm ???? :? er! the sticker say 56cm and so did the nob LBS guy, is it possible that Trek measure B to T

C to T = Centre of bottom bracket to top frame seat tube
B to T = Bottom of bottom bracket to top frame seat tube - does that measurement exist?

I seem to recall the idea behiind the softride was that it was supposed to be more comfortable, like suspension on a road bike, but for some reason they have never really made it big time  a bit like the flying gate baines-hs2.jpg

Top tube lengths for the Ribble frame:

    53 frame: 54cm top tube
    56 frame: 56cm top tube

Didn't ask about the 50cm, sorry tiny people.

A guy at my work commutes on a converted track bike. He often looks knackered when he gets in, I think it must be the hills.
Custom setup tourer is for me, I don't think a full on road bike would enjoy me riding it somehow.

Actually, I was gonna ask about mech hanger on the dropouts, BB type and so on.

Only reason, I have not asked is because I cannot speak - tonsilitus confirmed today by doc!

@itbofin I guess your Trek has sloping top tube and the 56cm is the virtual measurement as if it were horizontal :?

See now me, I like this one:

I think this is one of the ugliest bikes I've ever seen. However, it has an exceptionally low radar signal.

Isn't that because the UCI banned them, changing the rules to mandate that bikes had to consist of two triangles. A TT bike you can't use in competition is the smallest of small niche markets, so people stopped making them.

@Eau Rouge I think you're right. UCI like to ban anyhting new or different. They are legal for Triathlon and still used by some there.

    Dear God that is ugly.

So did you ever commute on it?

Yep. For a few weeks when my Condor road frame was having bits melted out of it and being resprayed. And when I had back trouble, it was a softer ride (clue's in the name) than a road bike.

Really not fun in traffic. close to 80 degree (virtual) seat post angle; you feel like your head is forward of the front axle when you stand up. Twitchy handling at slow speed to boot.

Wind it up, and it was fun though.

I'd always thought that they were good for the long distance tris.

My colleague says the ultimate tool is the guy commuting on the TT bike...

    Made me chuckle!

Talking about that, I've always wondered why single speed bikes used on the road need deep rim wheels when they're never going to go fast enough to make the aero advantage outweigh the weight (and sidewind) penalty.

The ITU banned them as well, but only for certain events - basically, the high profile ones. So no podium appearances with the top athletes (the win on a Sunday, sell on a Monday business model).
Swim. Bike. Run. Yeah. That's what I used to do.

For a short commute in traffic you could put drop bars on it like the Cervelo P3 track version.....

I should avoid this thread. The last time I got into one of these `excited at a bargain' conversations I ended up with a Singlecross. Which was good in retrospect. But this would be a project too far I fear.

£97 fine GB pounds later I'm the owner of a TT frame, bang on those full carbon forks and seat post I just happen to have knocking around and what do you know we're halfway to a TT bike.

The wheels will be here shortly and for now i'm happy to blast around fixed, not at 15 mph Jon/cjcp my only regret is that I sold my MASSHOOF ring before it ever saw the light of day.

cue someone to post pic of TT dude with unfeasibly large ring.
