Would be awesome if the Police in Manchester let people volunteer to go around patroling on bicycles looking for bad guys, I'd love that and do it on my roadie!

something tells me you haven't really thought that one through before typing....

Something tells me you should not really be replying to my posts....

I knew you were going to say that....

On my Sunday ride I descended Holme Moss and turned left onto the A628 to Penistone.
During an uphill section there are double white lines. I looked round to see about 10 cars behind me so I moved over as far to the left as I could so I was riding on the strip of tarmac between the white line and the grass verge(technically offroad).Despite having a clear lane the car at the front of the queue wouldn't overtake until the double white lines ended. As the cars passed me a passenger in one spit at me(missed) and shouted "Get a car you f**king c*nt"
The reg.number was DA55 GKP,a black Ford Fiesta Zetec.
Does anyone on Bikeradar know where this car lives?

Most definitely contact your local PCSO or station. A crime has been committed and at the very least a warning should/would be given.

Dont let the matter drop. Do something about it and posting on a forum wont help you or anyone else who these people may abuse.

I'd be contacting the police on a monthly basis if I reported all the verbal abuse and stuff thrown at me by young male drivers/passengers. I'd consider it, but i never get the reg!

    Croggy,

Get in touch with your local police and let them work for you. It is their job and they don't mind, after all we pay for them.

I had a load of abuse and threats from a driver who deliberately swerved at me and my girlfriend to knock us off when I was riding into Garstang a few months ago which resulted in me riding into the back of a parked car...which smarted a little. I took the number, reported it to my local police and a few weeks later was told that he car had been located, (a process involving more than one constabulary) the owner was then visited by his local police and then cautioned based on my statement. The police encouraged me to report any other similar incidents.

It does take time to make a report and some may say its pedantic. But Shogunsteve is right - Don't let it drop. Some fool who thinks his car is a handy weapon will do some real damage one day.
