We see a lot of Clarcksons round here due to the fact that Clarckson island is only a few miles off the coast http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMuO-8S_0Wg

Some of the things he says WOULD be funny IF people didn't start acting like him (or his TV persona). I've had people argue that global warming is just all made up and that speeding is perfectly safe all because Clarkson says so.

Cos he is or acts as a cock.
Which I find mildly amusing, but I prefer his sidekicks on top gear.

This response is awfully James May :?

He's upset another group of people. Shouldn't think he will ever be able to show his face in Burford again:

    This was funny though:

Anyone been past his mansion near Devizes? He had an old Tornado or Harrier on his front lawn with a tank nearer the house. What a tool. He really is an ar*e.

Ref. hating cyclist? Didn't the Hampster win a race across London on a bike, while Clarkson bezzed up the Thames on a speedboat?

How do you know he says or writes things just for effect? If he does then he is just a posing prick.
I don`t like him because he is an arrogant, racist, c#nt.

Some one else who doesn't sit on the fence......

Sadly the image he projects is how he is in real life. A complete tool.

Clarkson is a job knockey with a god complex. However, I think that Top Gear wouldn't be the same without him..... although I'd say the same of all the presenters on there to be fair

From his entry on Wikipedia :
His known passion for single- or two-passenger high-velocity transport led to his brief acquisition of an English Electric Lightning F1A jet fighter XM172, which was installed in the front garden of his country home. The Lightning was subsequently removed on the orders of the local council, which "wouldn't believe my claim that it was a leaf blower", according to Clarkson on a Tiscali Motoring webchat. In fact, the whole affair was set up for his programme Speed, and the Lightning is now back serving as gate guardian at Wycombe Air Park (formerly RAF Booker).

The rest of the Wiki page is a pretty good read too .

That programme he did on the 'Jet Engine' I thought to be a monumental waste of time, and I haven't quite forgiven him for missing the opportunity , as he proceeded to spend most of an hour acting the clot in business class clutching his 'round the world ticket' and yawning with the tiresomeness of it all . But then , that's Clarkson . James May might have made a better fist of it , but it would have still ended up trite and superficial as TV is knocked out by shiny bullet headed thugs these days .

I heard him being interviewed recently and he was asked what part of making the programme he enjoyed the most. To the interviewers surprise he said writing it. When asked whether he liked driving the cars he said god no.

Personally I like him, and his show, however it's some of his petrolhead followers I don't care for. We have a couple of blokes in our office who have actually been on topgear and they are the most boring pair you could even want to meet. One wears a flat cap whilst driving and the other talks about cars and driving continuously.

OK I talk about cycling continuously but hey that's cycling!

    I don't dislike him: I don't know him.

As far as I'm concerned he's a clown. Whether a contrived clown or a natural clown makes little difference to me.

I enjoy his clowning. I worry, however, that a substantial number of people do not realise he's a clown and try to emulate him.

I love Clarkson (NOT in a Ginger Beer way you understand)

He just makes me laugh. Even with his attitude towards cyclists.
  • I was once walking down a flight of stairs as the Top Gear Three were walking in formation up them - I stood to one side at a bend in the stairs to let them buy - not a flicker of thanks, ackowledgement or even awareness that I existed.

But hey, I still watch the programme and laugh at the superbly scripted races, challenges etc.

JC is definitely on the cool wall for me.

Yes I must admit they do overdo the accidental mistakes and they also review cars the average person could never hope to afford....but then thats the joy of it isnt it??

Maybe one day I'll have a Konigggeerrtrggggeerrt and enjoy that car myself.

In the meantime they just fuel my dreams!

    He's greatly amusing.
On the cyclist hating bit, I was watching DIY SOS last night, presenter there expounded a similar dislike for certain members of the cycling fraternity. Those who jump red lights, those who cycle on pavements & especially those who cycle on pavements & nearly run him & his daughter over.
    Can't argue with that stance.

I'm a fan, he's amusing and talks sense about a lot of things. Top Gear is entertaining and deserves its success. I'm not going to stop watching Top Gear or reading his column because he claims to hate cyclists. What I find so funny is that so many people fail to appreciate his tongue in cheek attitude and actually take him seriously.

I never get the argument that people "take him seriously" and then "behave in the manner he advocates." Let's face it, there are a lot of ignorant tw@ts in this country, I'm not sure Clarkson can be held responsible for people speeding etc etc. It's a fallacious argument, like saying video games encourage high school massacres.

Video games don't promote massacres???? Why do I bother playing them then? I was hoping I'd be able to walk into work one day, kill my boss and blame it on Halo!
  • Thing is if you are insulted by his musings then just make the choice of not watching him.
I personally think that he is the dog's danglies!

    Can we fix it?
    Yes we can!
