Headwind for the most part predicted today. Shame. Was hoping for a real slaughter today rather than a tactical race. Favours the lesser favourites I'd say.

So Devolder went in the first move, along with Knaven? I think someone doesn't feel he has the legs today!

Edit: Apparantly race radio got it wrong. It's not Devolder, but Wouter Weylands. Makes more sense.

Apparanely Haussler was saying on the start line he's not feeling in good form today either! Said something about giving something back to the team, who've worked so hard for him...

Will Boonen actually face any genuine stiff competition? 8)

Race radio is playing up today. Apparantly it's not Weylands, in the break for Quick-Step but Maarten Wynants

He had it in 2002 with postal if i remember correctly! Boonen did an awful lot of work for him and then he decided to fall off!

if the team orders over at cervelo tt were for Hushovd or Hammond then wouldn't Haussler spin it that way?

Probably, but Hushovd has never shown he's good over 210km, and Hammond just isn't good enough. I can't see Cervelo shaking it up too hard today, which I think will upset Lefevre, since I think he'd like help from Cervelo and Rabobank to make it a good hard race with a good solid selection. Not sure a headwind will let that happen...

They'll give the break it's head until Arenberg - then expect the big guns to roll through - after Arenberg there's immediately another 3 sectors in the next 40km, including 14 & 15 back-to-back which are really punishing

    Didn't look good :(
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

Racing seems a bit pointless after that horrid moto crash from before - really hope they are ok.

I think the commentary from the Eurosport boys has been excellent. Even they must be surprised at getting so much coverage today. With the Tour of Turkey during the week and then Amstel Gold next Sunday it is a good time to have Eurosport as a cycling fan!!

    Poor old Flecha!
  • Phew, thank god, as the Flandrian flag has been flying outside my house all day. Was touch and go for a bit but luckily Flecha helped out on that slippery corner -- he's crashed there before I believe.

    Hincapie? Yesterday's man.

Almost pulled off a PTP coup. Good to see Thor at least make the podium.

    Bravo Tommeke

Looked like it was spectators. The sort of thing you really don't want to see on live tv. Harmon said 11 injured and 3 seriously. Horrible incident.

    Well done to Boonen.

Yeah i have to say those spectators were uncomfortably close to the racers... a woman ran across boonen at the last of the cobble section nearly causing him to crash ..imagine if that had happened

And they were banned - and spectators were restricted in most countries.
