Really bad idea. A lot of young kids in our club have a tendency to do the same thing
once their legs start sprouting a bit of muscle. Seems like I've yelled at more than a few of them, at club races, to "watch the road, I'll watch your legs". Your legs will be there when you are done. If you must look, look then.

    Fixed Dennis!

I keep mine shaved all year round, no longer bother stopping after the last hill climb.
It just looks much better (in my opinion obviously).

I am quite vain, but I do like looking down at my legs in the summer ..........

Haha, I don't look at them when i'm racing, the chewing of the stem prevents me from doing that. But you know, when you're having a nice little training ride and the suns out.

Come on Dennis - I bet you have a sneaky admiring glance at your pins!

We all do every once in a while. Of course this would entail having a good looking pair.
At 60 mine are, at the very least, starting to fade from their former glory. Only reason that I even brought up the subject was that it can get habit forming watching things like that.
And that's not good. At the very least it could cause you to miss seeing that pothole in the road and at worst miss seeing that car.

Why does nobody talk about shaved feet? Hairy tops of your feet with shaved legs doesn't sound too good to me!!

    Are you a hobbit? :?:

If you are going to shave your manly legs, please, please, do it all the way up. Do NOT opt for the "hairy shorts" look, particularly if you have any inclination to go swimming this summer....

Hmm. Went out today and I can't say I noticed weather or not other cyclists were shaved or not. Even when I stopped behind one at the lights, I had to look really hard in order to see that he was not shaved. I doubt anyone notices at 15mph+

So the only people who will notice is the friends you're riding with - who should be looking at the road/situation anyway!

Still not convinced about the other reasons. :| I've had plenty of cuts/falls and the hair never affected anything. Had a massage recently too. No complaints from the person doing it.

Surely, when descending at 50mph, the wind would be unbearable? I was getting a little chilly today (it was a warm day, too!) and the hair is supposed to increase the leg temperature quite a lot... I can't imagine what it would have been like if i'd shaved!

As for aerodynamics, it may shave 1 second off a 10hr ride - not too worried about that!

    I think i'll stay as I am! :P

They don't get that cold IMO, I was just in shorts on the Cheshire Cat, and that was a chilly day, even though the sun was out. And I didn't feel cold at all in my legs on the descents, if anything it was the body feeling the cold, as it does little work.

I prefer my legs shaved, looks better, and feels better.

Just curious.......how far does everyone go up their legs? Right up the thighs to the crotch area? Or just above the shorts line?

The physio has talked me into doing it...last couple of sessions for my knee injury has left me with a very sore patch due to the hair. I think both legs shaved will look better than one shaved!

Full legs. Under no circumstances should you leave the bit under the shorts hairy. It'll look ridiculous come swimming trunks time in the summer!

I shave mine all year. In the winter I put deep heat on leges mixed with olive oil, keeps legs warm and oil deflects rain if I get caught in shower. If I dont shave them I would use entire tube of deep heat :D
I dont shave all way to top as it bloody hurts when stubble grwos back if you shave too close to your arse !!
To the guy who says he doesn't plan on crashing, very funny!! neither do I but in one race a muppet rider pulled in to me before passing through and we were doing 30mph a mile from finish and I got hit off onto newly surfaced road ( that awful loose gravel stuff, loads of scratches on bikes that day) and I got bad road rash on knee and arm and big gouge on hip and was glad to have shaved legs for that!!! The pain on legs was so bad I did not even know I snapped a pin in my arm until 3 weeks later :D
I use mach3 razor which keeps them really smooth and to stop the rash make sure I use clean razor for legs and definately not one used for shaving face!!
I also use Nivea shaving balm which is great and stops stinging and rash. It is good on the face also :D

Always shave to the top of the legs as I hate the ginger porcupine look of my shorts if i don't and I have to admit to trimming a bit in the crotch area for the same reason  . Of course the real reason we do it is to impress non cycling ladies as they always ask questions about it.

If you are going to shave your legs then you should shave your balls and wax all the way round to your ass crack...

I used to do it as a swimmer, and it is a winner in SO many ways
