Just catching up here - some good stuff.
I managed two silver medals at the National paracycling road championships last week, in the TT and the road race. This was my first go at a para cycling event, so pretty happy with that.
PB power from the road race too (which was ~ 2:10 duration) of 271 watts (normalised power).
My max 1-hr NP was 286 watts and 30-min max NP was 308 watts
It was a hard race. Not bad 10 months after starting to ride again.0 -
Good going Chris and Alex!
My first club 10 tonight this year, am going to see (if I manage to get round) if I can get under 50 minutes. Should be interesting!
Chris, who win the TLI race?0 -

Awesome ride in the club 10 particularly given the wind. Stephen Leigh MK Cycles won the TLI race.0 -

My first two races ever have been joyous and frustrating in equal measures.
Capernwray was my first Cat 1-4, 55 mile, quite hilly and relatively 'easy-going' ie guys were chatting to each other on the last lap! Managed 14th out of 50. This was the joyous bit, just to finish my first race, the placing was a bonus!
2nd race this morning was West Pennine RR Cat 2-4. 50miles on the Clitheroe circuit. The pace was far far quicker, tricky roads, narrow and twisty, gravel on corner exits, mud, water etc made for some interesting 'heart in mouth' moments! It's a fast course and I'm quite a good climber so this didn't suit me as my top end speed just isnt there yet. Still, I got myself in a good position on the last lap and went for it up the last lump then tried to hang on over the uphill finish, at which point I got passed by about 10 riders! If I'd hung on I'd have placed in the top ten I think. But i think I ended up 15-18th, somewhere round there. So this was the frustrating part - I keep replaying that last few hundred yards in my head, thinking I could have gone harder, but in reality I think I did all I could.
Just writing this down has been cathartic, I'll stop being grumpy and book another race!0 -
Well, a not-so-good performance last Thursday; 13th out of 18 with a slower time than I've done on this particular course in the past. Last man off and the wind picked up during the course of the event, not to mention there being a sprinkling of rain and a deer running out on to the road at one point. Not that I'm fishing for excuses, but I think there have been evenings where things were slightly more in my favour! Still, I must've gained some benefit as I managed a nigh-on 50 mile training loop over rolling roads yesterday with no stops, and felt pretty good on arriving home given the distance. Excellent weather, too!
