Teehee, twice I've been apologised to today by male posters in this thread :D

My wry amusement at everything isn't coming through obviously - imagine most of my posts are typed with an impish grin and you'll have it about right!

Back on topic - mm it is frustrating the lack of variety in ladies gear. I'm still looking for the ideal slightly-baggy short-shorts to go over my lycra. Ah well!

i think the problem is cycling is a fairly male sport, in my bike club there are very few women if i go for a few loops of RP i see lots of blokes in lycra not many woman same if if you stop at the cafe, same goes with commuting lyra = bloke almost always. this does mean it's self fulling proficey as who is going to buy from a shop if they don't have much you can buy?

It is pretty bloomin' woeful really. I get all excited when the wiggle newsletter comes my way with talk of clothing bargains, and there's naught but something pink for us ladies.

And we're not used to the lack of variety!

There is a perfectly sensible reason for the lack of choice around female cycle clothing (particularly with regards to baggy), and it is this:

On the way home tonight I've just swung onto a cycle path and 100 yards in front of me someone else swung on from a side path.

I'm going a fair bit quicker and very soon catch up.

    Except.

She's in lycra shorts and has just got the cutest....

SCR be damned at this point. I was hooked :?

Decency forced me to go past but... but....

    :D

    @jash :lol:

But there's also a distinct lack of lycra! Are we meant to cycle in the buff?

On reflection, don't answer that. I don't want a repeat of the 'don't scroll right' incident...

I've found that unless I wear mens cycle shorts then the womens ones seem to be designed as flippin hipsters and you end up with builders arse while cycling.

with my butt that isn't a nice sight!

I popped over to Clapham last night to see some mates (on the bike of course). Got stuck behind a bloke on a roadie who was sporting a rather skimpy t-shirt and short, short 80's style football shorts. Everytime he pedalled a rather large portion of his bare ar$e would reveal itself. I nearly lost my dinner. Suffice to say he was passed in short order.

    Not pleasant.

to be fair, I did warn you.

Go to google images, turn off the safe sear function and type "naked bike ride"

    Prepare to be disgusted.

Why is it that naturists are never attractive? One of life's cruel jokes I suppose.

Thankfully the one pair of proper cycling shorts I have, come up quite high :) (SPEG ones I believe, from cycle-clothing.co.uk)

I left the house without putting my usual sport shorts over the top of the lycra ones today. I felt both exposed and liberated in equal measure! But then I had a big baggy long sleeve T shirt on my top half today (my long sleeve jersey was still drying out the wash), so I wasn't all-over skin-tight thankfully. Not sure I'd have coped!

Still, it was better than forgetting to add my proper bra over the little crop-top I wear underneath it for cycling comfort. That was an, uh, 'loose' feeling. REALLY must go get fitted for a sports bra...

...Oh! While I was having tech problems, this thread went rather off-track.

For the boys - naturism.. cycling... surely not, er, safe?

Yep another good reason to never buy a bike from a hippy

I wouldn't thinks so. Especially if you have a saddle like this:

I heart that saddle although I'd need the slightly larger version to accommodate the twins

see I choose not to inflict that on the public at large. thus the baggy man shorts which actually sit on the waist.

    On topic 8)

Endura Humvees are available in a womens fit in short and three-quarter length.

I have both - in mens fit, obviously, (and the longs as well) and they are very good. The short version come with a lycra / chamois liner that clips in and fits the other versions, but a regular lycra short works fine as a liner. I prefer the 3/4 version over the others.

I've made the error a few times of not realising that the difference in viewing angle between standing up and looking in a mirror versus cycling along means that I'm a tad more exposed that I think!

WVM don't seem to keen to kill me on those occasions...
