    ...damn. That would've been cool.

Odd question - when changing tyres, I'll be fine with whatever tubes were inside my 28mm tyres, right? Or might they have been a bit stretched somehow? Such a noob thing to ask!

I gather the Rubino Pros may be much better but those Halos are still the more striking - and I can't find any bad reviews on them yet... Hrrmm...

    Any opinions on these: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=20419 ?

May I ask why you're not looking for slick tyres? do you ride on the road and gravel bike paths?

Go the whole way get yourself coloured tyres, spoke card and pulsing night spoke light thingy which I have but can't remember the name of, very effective for being heard and seen.

Lit up like a UFO and sounding like a Gatling gun :D

Some of us used to use an old bit of card from a cereal box for that on our BMX bikes when we were kids. We were cool then

Oh, because I'm not looking at the pictures properly! And the brightest seem to be fairly tready, by the looks of things.

Ideally, I'd find a 25 or 28mm 700c tyre, slick, and lime green all over (so that the bright bit doesn't get completely hidden by my mudguards from the side). Doesn't seem to be much of it about!

If I ended up with a bit more tread I wouldn't be fussed really - it would just make me a little free-er to nip onto various gritty shortcuts here and there.

I'm gonna play devils advocate here SJ, couldn't you just go for a mis-matched pair of tyres? i.e lime green and pink versions of the halos ;-)

Those spoke lights look cool ITB, god damn it!! I might be able to play the safety card to get a pair of them approved by the CFO......

I was looking at a pair of red/black Michelin Pro races for my SCR but there is no way I could justify spending £30 a wheel for a bike that I commute on.......

Oooooo. You know, that's ugly and wonderful at the same time. AND THEN I could get those Spoke Lit things, stick a red one on the green wheel and a green one on the pink wheel...

I run these in various colours naturally to match the bike in question, great price, grip and tarty

If you worried about running 23 then just keep them a little softer say 90psi I use them all over the place sometimes even off road and yes I get more than my fair share of visits from the PF, then again I get those even with the most expensive conti kelvar MTB tyres.

But only available in yellow! I want the grey ones...

Erm source them from another site  :P

    NO.

I want you to find them for me, you clearly have time on your hands.:D

You might want to fit the tyres on the inside of the fork and stays, Sara. But yes, pretty sexy :)

Hahaha, a friend of mine couldn't resist a further photoshop for a true EMOBIKE:

    emobike.jpg

I am so so so tempted. And it probably would end up being the cheapish halo couriers mainly because they're the most striking. Would the grip pattern possibly make my ride less nice? Ideally they'd be slick...

    :):)

Yep, the Halos aren't going to grip as well as the Rubino Pros - they are designed to be abused by messengers on fixies who tend to skid rather more than most. However I wouldn't think they'll be awful either. Courses and horses really. :)

But they're lime greeeeen! And piiiiink!

I know that's a lame reason for wanting a particular tyre.

    But but but but but...................

Dang, just seen a load of posts on a forum where fixie riders have skidded the crap out of the halos. Also reports that they're rubbish in the wet (not surprising) and sketchy on tight cornerning.... Maybe should give up the pink and green idea... but they're oh so pretty...!

The two salient points are a) they're probably not going to be that inspiring in the wet and b) if you skid a lot they'll wear out quickly (same as any other tyre). So you can ignore B but you need to think about how much A means to you e.g. if you look outside and its raining and you reach for the car keys then A might not matter that much either. If you ride in all weathers, you might conclude that, sadly, its not worth putting yourself at risk to look a million dollars :)

As with any problem, the answer is always to buy another bike. :)

    Easy peasy. :)

Bah, can't afford the money nor the storage space for another bike, sadly!

I do indeed ride to work in the rain, it's wind that puts me off more.

Hey, could I make the argument that these are my "summer tyres" ? That sounds kinda cool...

I have to admit I am tempted by a set of red tyres I have seen for my bike. would look good with the black frame.

could go stupid and have red and white to show my support for the mighty Grecians!

Perhaps I had some weird dream about it, but arn't there tyres out there with flag designs on them. I would quite fancy a set of Canada flag ones otherwise.

Pink is VERY tempting but seeing as my SPDs now have pink laces, I think that might be overkill... I think lime green is calling me...

But pink and lime-green! You don't think that's overkill?
    No :D

It's aesthetically offensive, but not matching. There's the key.

And SO tempted by spokey dokeys, just because they're incredibly childish!

...this might become a very odd bike. But at least unmistakably mine.

    I like your style.

Go for your life on lairy tyres and spokey dokes! Playing card in the spokes for that 'motorbike' effect?

    Gotta be done, no?
