I was thinking along the lines of this thread this morning myself...

...however the ride home was so good that the morning grind was soooo worth it. I FLEW home!

  • ...what I look like getting all the way for 25 miles into work tomorrow, as I want to go to the meet in the evening, which means i'll not get the tailwind back cos i'll be picked up by The Lady.

  • The Old Duke is one of the only pubs I like, cos it's a proper pub, so all being well I hope to partake of a swift half or 2.

Is there anywhere to park the bikes, or will we be sitting outside to 'keep an eye'? Also, i'll be in my cleats and lycra, until The Lady arrives at least.

Oh I'll be in cleats and dodgy 90s jersey aye :)

We tend to lock up to railings, sheffield stands or around a handy lamp post - it's fine down there even if we do go inside.

I'll echo the above for Wiltshire, headwind was a pig this morning, added 5 mins onto a 43 min, 12.5 mile commute :(

Here's hoping it stays blowing in the same direction and cuts 5 mins off the home leg

even more of a nightmare when you ride a single speed...

    +1

Not good at all for my poor legs... One section this morning felt like peddling with the brakes half on...
  • Added 15 minutes to my 45 minute 11 mile ride to work this morning... That’s 33%

I had half a mind to get the train home in a strop and go back to bed... :?

Could you cancel that out by getting a carbon bike, yathink?

Now you know that's not true. In the same way that you wait 8 hours or so before turning round and going in the opposite direction, so does the wind.
  • I'm going with the fact I will be leaving 2 hours early and of course the wind being the sentient being it is and trying to get most cyclists with a headwind at 8ish this morning, I will be ahead of its tricksy plan on the way home!

That's what I am hoping for obv. Being pissed on and with a headwind might make me cry - at least I will be going home.

  • 30 min extra on the 1.5hr 25 miles in I have done on the few occasions I did it in the past.

I decided that I should do it today and see how bad it could get

    My legs ache now though!

    Hawkwind again? Good call.

    7 x 7. Ummm.

If it's wind you're after the tree outside my office window is blowing around a bit too much for my liking. Good job it's a school run day today; hope it's calmer tomorrow tho.

headwind + fatac (motorbike) yesterday morning added 30mins onto my 50 mins.

Tailwind though dropped 5 mins off in the evening; with one section seeing me hitting 30mph on the flat with the hack
