Weight loss and long distance

Over the winter I have been training harder than usual and totally changed my diet to lose10kgs. Was'nt a weight issue but just wanted to be as lean as possible for 2009 and as I mainly do hilly routes and sportives/holidays I know that the weight loss would help me greatly.
As expected I am faster on the hills but today I did a very demanding 115miles(harder than most sportives) but felt better than usual today when finished and this was my first foray over 100miles this year. Normally this time of year big runs leave me feeling tired until I have done a few sportives - but I was flying today and did not suffer any bad points that I usually go through around the 80mile mark.
Do you think it is the extra training through the winter that has done me good or the weight loss or both? I was cycling today much better than my summer fitness last year. I am shocked - a good start to the year.

I'd guess at most of the improvement coming from keeping riding through the winter. The lower weight will have helped a bit up the hills, but there's no substitute for having miles in your legs.0

This is what my diet is:-
Breakfast - Porridge/skimmed milk with a glass of fruit juice
Mid morning snack - apple
Lunch - 2 Oatcakes on banana with a pear
Afternoon Snack - Another banana
Tea - Keep this normal but I have vitually cut all processed meats, red meat, white bread and pasta. Usually have whole grain pasta or rice.
Night time snack - Cup of tea and Jaffa cake.
Its very boring but it works for me.Brian B.0
