UNI... Seriously, WTF.

Just got back from the most pointless, wast of time and tax payers money "lecture" in my life.
"today, we're reading a journal"..... oooooookkkkk?!
It wasn't a hard journal to read, nor was it very informative (as the lecturer found out when we picked holes in it).... 1 hour in and I practically walked out.
I could have read the journal on my own in around 15mins, made some notes and understood it better. (something I do anyways).
next week's lecture is also cancelled.
This whole University thing is starting to really get to me now.... my lecturers are a bunch of retards.

1 lecture per week? Got to be History, surely...0 -
Nutrition with Sport Science. Lecture was "functional and novel foods", which is usually quite interesting.0

Got GSCE's coming up this summer, bet summer will end just as i finish the last exam
University has got to be better than that Ben, least you aren't couped up from 9 to 5 (actually get home at 5 )Now that we are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. ROMANS 15:10 -
well, its ok.. apart from there being feck al to do
Lectures are on average around 1.5 hrs long. Takes me 45mins- 1hr to get to uni depending on traffic, so it seems pretty pointless!!
Not even much (good) riding to be had down here, can't wait to get back up north0 -
dont tell me first year?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I felt like that towards the end of my degree. Had no lectures at all for the final semester just one massive project and even though it seemed to take up every waking moment I did get pretty bored when the bulk of the work was finished a few weeks before the deadline.
Not sure what sort of wordage it was, but I had some spare time so got together with a lecturer and a postgrad and turned chunks of it into a proper research paper, so I'm now a published technical author. Also I learnt some German (which I've pretty much completely forgotten!) so spend your spare time bettering yourself!"The problem was, I was still using my eyes even though I had them shut"

I'm in my final year (bsc marine studies merchant shipping before you ask) and have about 15hrs a week lectures, a 8000 work dissi due soon, a *!*@+*& conference tomorrow worth 1/3 of my dissi and 3 pieces of coursework due the week before the dissi is due. I  :evil:one by one my penguins will steal your sanity0

I think some lectures are boring, but some are quite interesting. I was doing Dip HE Adult Nursing (we'll come to the reason why im not in a min) and i found the more practical sessions were the best, some lectures were interesting, but boring lectures on the Human rights act, Mental health act etc were sooooooo boring.
However i have been discontinued from course as of today due to absence, now i have been having medical problems recently, however i have lacked the communication skills so it looks like unauthorised absence got a meeting with them next week, so hopefully i can get back on the course, as i can get the doctor to explain why i've been off.
If not i'll apply for Salford Uni and start again0 -
Uni....I was wasted from 11am on wards yesterday....thats University.0

3 per week actually.... seriously I had 10x more work at A-level....
christ on a bike. Used to have 40 hours of lectures and practicals during the week and 2 hours each saturday.0 -
you should all get jobs and stop pretending uni is hard work.0
-
-
so whats your plan for your degree when you finish ben?0
-
no clue
planned 2 holidays already.... going round the world for 6 months next year hopefully, already had our ticket planned by STA Travel
Hopefully get some sort of job, my mates (who finished Uni last year) still don't have jobs I've got a few people I can talk to at a local YMCA as I want to help out with some sports summer schools
other that that I haven't really looked into it0 -
I have to work on a hospital ward every 8 weeks and Student nurses get the really crap jobs I might moan but it'll be worth it in the end.0
-
wife is a nurse and although she is enjoying it now, her training was horrible. you guys should definately be getting paid more considering even as students you do full days of actual work, not like some students.............
moaning bout being a student and how hard life is gets my goat a bit, students choose their life and for the most part, have it paid for by tax payers. wonder how hard they will moan when they have to do full days of graft (in a field not relating to the subject ive just paid for them to learn)0 -
I wasn't moaning that it was "too hard" or "how hard life is"... I was moaning because I expected more than just reading a journal.... ie, i thought it would be harder :roll:0
-
stil sounds like moaning to me, you could always get a job, hang on we've already tried this0
-
-
And even if I am moaning.... its not bacause I think its too hard.... i'm annoyed that its too easy! you should read the OP.0
-
I just surfed during most of my degree0
