Tacx Fortius

I am using a Tacx fortius with 700x23 tyres.I have just realized that there is an extension piece Z which is used for wheels 690 - 720mm.Any users out there add this extension.It seems to work ok without it or am I doing damage to the motor.Thanks in advance.
