Start weight 89.1 Kg
Last week 86.1 Kg
Last night 85.9 Kg...but....
lowest weight = 85.1 Kg

I've eaten loads, not ridden so much (about 80 miles) and genrally not given much of a s**t. Stopped following my calories for a while.

I did actually go for a run on Sat mornnig - only 20 mins and it nearly kiled me - legs ached for days. Not helped by the fact that my winter commuter has totally given up the ghost so i'm getting to work on the old MTB that cost me £30 s/h 3 years ago (it really is THAT good!!)

I'm not enthused about the two sportives I have booked (Lakeland Loop (why oh why??) and Squires and Spires) possibly because I've been spending a lot of time over in the MTB section. On top of that I have just ordered a Specialised Rockhopper through the ride2work scheme (defo turning to the dark side - "Luke, I am your father"!!).

At the weekend I hope to go to Thetford with the kids, off-roading.

What the hell though, as long as I'm enjoying my riding what else matters????

    Last week 197 lbs

Not overly disheartened as there was a full on pizza and a few beers in there this week. Exercise quite good this week as well (I'm sure my personal trainer is trying to kill me), and everything aches at the end of the week, so it's obviously working the bits it's meant to.

Going to re-asses the diet this week to see if I can improve matters, with more protein going in.

small gain due to taking week off the bike with a cold. I've recovered now and have been out riding again. I'm doing the Credit Crunch sportive in the peaks this weekend and feeling good about that. I'm quite hungry though and need to make sure that I don't slip into bad habits. My husband bought me a choc bar - 6 pieces - and I have managed to spread that over 3 days but I still feel guilty about it.

I'm really starting to notice a big difference in my riding - the hills do seem to be a little easier and I can get up the more gentle slopes without having to resort to lower gears. It feels good.

Start of the month 230lbs, weighed myself today 228lbs. This is despite 2 weeks off work and doing 6 x 20 milers and 3 30+ milers. I have lost 20lbs since January so i take some consolation in that. What am i doing wrong?

Aw, that would have been great but I have my daughter at home tomorrow so can't make it. Wednesdays are my big ride days if you have any free wednesdays coming up?

Weighed in at 16st7, a 2lb gain over the week before. Odd as it sounds, this is good news, as I go up and down in two week cycles and this up is an easy pound lower than the previous up week, plus my waist has started shrinking again, plus even the 16st7 was distorted by a a late night chinese prior to the weigh in. What might otherwise be regarded as delusional thinking has been confirmed by my official weightwatchers weigh in on Wednesday which shows a decline (in what is usually an up week) to 16st3, so I think I've broken through the 16st5 - 16st9 plateau I've been stuck at pretty much since the beginning of this exercise. If so, it's because I've managed to rebalance my diet with a little more dairy and a little more protein than I'd previously been eating, coupled with eating slightly less all round - I have been resorting to measuring out my food at breakfast and dinner to get the calories right!

As for exercise, Tue - 2hrs on the Turbo; Wed - 2hrs strength training at the gym; Thu - 30mins on Turbo (I abandoned because I felt like crap that day); Fri. - 34 miles; Sat. - 77 miles (in the p***ing rain, but at least it wasn't snow!); Sun - 1hr recovery ride on the Turbo. At last winter is coming to an end here. Almost time to put the Turbo away! :D

I used to do regular 1 hour sessions, but I've decided now that 40-45 minute sessions at a more intense level are a better use of my time, and are also easier to cope with mentally.

Back in the winter of 2000/2001 a lot of bad things in my life came to a head at the same time and I used to fight the stress by doing the longest, most intense turbo sessions that I could physically cope with a couple of times a week - anything up to 2.5 hours at a time. I couldn't walk up the stairs afterwards, and had to crawl up on my hands and knees. Funnily enough, those sessions felt easier mentally than the shorter ones I do now because I had to be so focussed on what I was doing that everything else was forgotten about (which was exactly why I was doing them!). I came out of that winter fitter than at any other time.

    I wouldn't want to do 2 hours on a turbo-trainer now though - I'm not angry enough!
