cross training>?

next month i'm going on a holliday and am going to have no access to abike what-so-ever! been training really hard this winter and fitter than ever so understandably dont want to lose it all.

whats the best type of sport or running(never run seriously) that i could do to keep fitness up?

  • If you haven't got access to gym cardio equipment then running is by far your best bet.

    try and keep a constant pace or interval type stuff?

    Not sure but, the first time you go out, you should keep a constant pace and not over-do it if you've never run seriously before. It's a bit of a shock because you put a lot more stress on your joints! I'd say just build it up slowly, to be safe.

    What kind of holiday are you going on? If it's the typical sunny/beach destination, they should have swimming pools around - that's better than running in my opinion.
  • It depends. If you are not used to running i wouldn't advise interval training. Just like cycling requires (or should!), running should also require a base level of fitness before embarking on anaerobic type sessions. Just normal steady state running and/or even a tempo run or two will suffice and keep your fitness levels at a very high state.

    yup, all i'm trying to do is keep the fitness up so a constant pace sounds like the best bet.

    oh, convinced my sister and dad to let me get a bike while they go on their crazy rollercoasters.(not for me :? ) cheers for the link :)
