What is this "traffic lights" thingy you talk of
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.

My proper average is maybe 13mph, but then I do have (I think) 22 sets of traffic lights in my 7 mile journey, as well as London traffic. I agree with Jamey that it's a more realistic measure when talking about commuting - after all, the key thing is getting to work/getting home in a reliable time!

Yeah, a valid point, my computer measures average moving time, not including stops. If it did include stops I'd be even slower... :D

You want to move up here then to Sticksville. I was counting cars last night on the way home; after 7 miles I'd seen three, two approaching and one that passed me. And a nice old lady with a dog who looked for all the world as if she might engage me in conversation when I said 'evening' as I rolled past. Traffic lights eh? What a bind they must be... :)

Is Counting Cars a pop song by that Snow Petrol band? Sounds familiar somehow.
  • my computer is the cat-eye cc-mc100w, which according to their website is the most popular wireless bike computer in the world. also it has an auto setting and a start/stop setting. which is great and means I can work out my proper average.

now I've just got to figure out their instructions... :?
