Holdsworth have beautiful own-brand bikes in their window, in a wonderful orange. Want.
  • Slane Cycles - Belfast

Full on Roadie bike shop. Components and parts are often better value than places like Wiggle but workshop time can be expensive and you usually need to arrange in advance to bring the bike in. However, they're probably the only place in Belfast I would trust to do major work for me

Sigma Sport on the other hand are dreadful! They simply refuse to honour the warranty on the products they sell.

You had a bad experience with them. According to this post by you, they offered you a selection of remedies, including a full refund.

In this subsequent post you said "I only complained about Sigma until I got what I was owed". It's not clear what you thought you were owed, but it is clear from this post that you thought you'd had it.

Every post you've made here since then has brought in a reference to how bad you think Sigma Sport is.

    Change the record.

+1 IME Sigma are excellent, knowledgeable, good stock & friendly.

i keep meaning to have a look at sigma though i don't often stop in hamton wick though as kingston wheelers have a sponsaship with them i must roll down some weekend and have a look, trouble is having a bike shop under 5mins walk i'm never likely to be swayed very far!
  • check out Bigpeaks in Ashburton Devon
the best bike shop I have ever been in, coupled to this great advice, they built me some great hope/mavic wheels and offered a free tune on these...even though they have been perfectly straight for the last 3 months. They didn't talk down to me too!
they offer free lifetime servicing on new bikes too, but i'm ok with my Ex8 wsd right now
a great sales experience I can recommend them!

+1 for Bike+. Ordered a couple of Schwalbe Marathons from them recently, got package with one tyre in it. Rang up, guy on the phone was the one who packed it! Took a few days to get the second one, they were waiting on stock, but I'd definitely use them again.

In Pompey, Velocity Bikes in London Road are my shop of choice- if it needs doing and it's worthwhile doing, they'll do it. They don't stock Dahons (though they do have a Dahon-made Ridgeback in there), but they've been really good with both of mine. All manner of road and MTB goodness stocked.

Cycle World just along the road also recommended- I've had one niggly experience with them (hence switching my allegiance to Velocity) but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on that. Wide range of stuff and they generally know what they're talking about.

A "big up" for Tredz on Penarth Road in Penarth/Cardiff.

The very kind chaps there interrupted their breakfast this morning and opened up their shop 20 mins early for me to fix my jumping chain problems which emerged on a test ride of new wheels last night. They must have taken pity on me when they saw my slightly panicked face at the window. Turned out I had slightly bent the rear mech during transit in the car.

    Thanks, guys. 8)

+1 for Tredz my local shop which is one of the few round here open on Sunday's. Top guy's in there!

Cyclopaedia on Crwys Road in Cardiff is also worth a visit.

Yep another shout to The Bike Shed in Exeter and Crediton!

I recently picked up my Trek 7.5 WSD from the Crediton store and found wonderful service there. I went in with the intent of getting a full on road bike but the guy was great and not only showed me the roadie options but also suggested trying out the 7.5. fell for it straight away and it's now mine. I go into the Exeter store for bits and pieces, but I have to admit I do take time out to go to the Creddy store because of the service I get from them.

Also a cursory shout to Sidwell Cycles, again good swift service when I got my Land Rover MTB, they looked at what I could afford and the cycling I was doing at the time and provided me with a decent set of wheels which has now been passed onto my dad (he dosen't mind cycling to work on a pink bike!)

Full credit to The Bike Shed though, I know where I will be getting my next bike and all my gear from!

I'm also a big fan of Sunset Cycles on Woodville Rd (round the corner from Cyclopaedia). Really nice guys in there, especially Simon, and nicely priced too. They knocked £90 off a Trek 1.5 for me because they couldn't get the 1.2 in.

It would seem that Cardiff is nicely stocked with decent bike shops! :D

    +1

Perhaps the best in the UK!

    I'd also like to recommend:
AW Cycles (Reading) - sometimes too busy for their own good, but generally pretty good.
Bikefix (London) - only been in there twice, but staff are cool and they stock all sorts of usefel oddities. Plus they are the only shop where I've seen a Big Dummy.
Red Planet Bikes (Swindon) - Good bunch of bike mad guys. Always willing to help out.
Scotby Cycles (Carlisle) - who kindly loaned me some shop floor space and a display stand when I need to replace a burst tyre on tour.

+1. I was actually going to pop in there initially, but I was heading off up to London at the time and, coming from Penarth, Tredz was closer so gave them a try (they'd also been very hepful on other occasions while I was in Penarth last week). But, I've been in Cyclopaedia before and like them too.

I think your school misled you badly if they told you to use capitals for "Things"! They also forgot to tell you to use capitals for "I" as in "I've".

Another vote for Epic Cycles in Herefordshire (I travelled over 2 hours to buy from them following extensive and patient email discussions over the right bike for me, test rode 3 and it was like buying a car, with test rides, spec discussions, coffee as I walked in ... fantastic. Also, their sportives are superb too!)

My local bike shop here in Milton Keynes also gets a vote - newly opened (well, 5 months ago now I think), Twenty3c - excellent set up, really good workshop service, nothing too much trouble and 2 minutes from home. Interior is like an Audi showroom, rather than bike shop ... ah, such lovely bikes! :D

Finally, I spend a lot of time in Bath and would rate Johns Bikes in Walcot Street too - again, really good service in there.

It\'s not my fault I\'m slow - I\'m underpowered for my weight!

got to give a big lot of praise to wiggle

i have had to return things in the past that were either wrong or i couldnt justify once it arrived lol

however got some dhb bib merston longs at xmas and through my own fault in a rush i tried to get them off with the ankle zip still fully done up and when it wouldnt come of i pulled harder and bust the zip

also a little hole on the seem appeared

so i thought id see if wiggle would take them back as it does say on their site all dhb clothing has lifetime manufactures guarentee. got email this morning saying they are refunding my postage and sending out me a new pair :D
