13 miles each way. rural so often chilly and damp in the morning.
i'm assossed to the max. air blcok f-mille bib tights and air block jacket. often use overshoes (neoprene if wet, socks if dry). one or two cycling tops under the jacket and maybe armwarmers if really cold. use a headband under the helmet as strangely my head never seems to get that cold.
have to say the air block jacket is so toasty without being stupidly bulky. if it rains, i just put up with it.
getting milder now though so may brave 3/4 tights and reduce down to my airblock gillet instead of the jacket.0 -
My ride is 20km each way. I think the limit for wearing normal clothes is around 10km. In the summer I often wear small running shorts, but other than that it is 100% cycling gear.0

I hope you insure your clothes as well as your bike
I tend to limit my brands to Gore and Altura....both have served me well.0 -
10km
Leopard print posing pouch and a string vest to keep me chest warm.
And a big red helmetHead Hands Heart Lungs Legs0 -
Only just started so have minimal kit (Altura night vision jacket, dhb shorts and some other bits and bobs) for my measly 4 mile commute.
My current state of fitness means I'm too sweaty at the end of these 4 miles to wear my work gear!0 -

i'm an assos snob having tried some of their kit a few years ago and i've never looked back. it get's loads of use as i road race, race xc mtb and commute to work by bike. as i see it it's money well spent on kit that actually works. each to their own and it's always a personal choice i guess, but i can't stand folk who moan about spending money on decent kit, instead trying to make do with gear from aldi et al that quite frankly doesn't work and only lasts 5 minutes. the people that moan about assos kit are usually riders that have never tried it. besides, if you shop carefully you can save a fortune as it's usually significantly discounted somewhere online...0 -
5.2 miles
usually baggy trousers (tights under if very very cold), baselayer (endura transmission) and a lidl jersey.
if its wet or very cold ill put my endura convert II jacket on as well.Giant TCR advanced 2 (Summer/race)
Merlin single malt fixie (Commuter/winter/training)
Trek superfly 7 (Summer XC)

OK...I'll join in. 8 miles each way and full roadie gear (usually with a vintage jersey as they have become an obsession of late). It's just more comfortable, less likely to get ruined and it dries more effectively on wet days....I really hate putting soaking wet gear back on at the end of the day!0

10 miles each way.
Rapha Merino Wool top (brought for me) dhb lycra/padded shorts, Altura night vision jacket (like everyone else), a toothy smile and a cheerful disposition.
Where is this thread headed? No Babbit No, Look what Birdy doing0 -
I can't be arsed to read the whole thread, but may I recommend swrve for their 3/4 trousers, which are great if you have, ahem, big legs. The WWR ones are particularly good.
You can also get swrve stuff from Alwaysriding
Both of them have given me really good service recently, but I have no connection with them whatsoever, honest!0 -
I ride about 30 miles a day and always wear full cycle gear. So this week, as it's warmer, I am wearing dhb 3/4 bib tights, a short sleeve fat cyclist jersey and an altura night vision windproof.
I do have the luxury of showers at work, but mostly I wear it to be comfortable.0 -
about 10 min each way including 3 min wait at traffic lights. I ride in jeans or shorts and my work polo shirt.Nothing in life can not be improved with either monkeys, pirates or ninjas

5 miles, usually baggies plus waterproof/windproof top with t-shirt, Aldi jumper.
Gloves (and an old hat) depending on weather, I have some track mitts, some Prendas full finger jobbies and some Spesh winter gloves.FCN 100 -
6 miles each way. Shorts, Ron Hills, Shimano shoes, Endura Hi Viz Jacket - everything really.....well I've got them anyway!'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0

8 miles each way.
Full bike kit,as the weather demands.
In winter its the faithful Assos airblock jacket,Assos roubaix tights (haven't got round to getting airblock tights, though would like some),overshoes, skull cap under the Giro Helmet, the lot.
(I work 12 hour shifts,& the ride home after nights,or into work on days can be DAMN cold.
Summer,shorts & a trade top generallyso many cols,so little time!0 -
3.7 miles each way and almost completely flat (rather oddly for Bristol). +30 miles in the evening 3 times a week as a small detour (hilly).
Wear Rapha 3/4 orange and black CycloCross bib shorts, Green and orange Rapha SS jersy with white or black full armed baselayer depending on tempriture (the back one's warmer).
Always wear the proper kit unless it's just a toddle to the pub - Even with a short commute there is no good excuse for not getting to work soaked with sweat and sporting a huge grin.FCN: 50 -
8-10 miles each way depending on route, hilly, full of traffic lights so it takes 45 minutes and I do it in all weathers. I get showered when I get to work. Full lycra really is the only optionToday is a good day to ride0
-
For short distance on the fixie:
Plus fout tweeds + white shirt and tweed waistcoat ;-)
In reality - Tee shirt, arm warmers, 3/4 length shorts and cycling under shorts or 3/4 bib shorts, Whte and Green Rugby socks - somethimes wear a high viz jacket - depends on weather conditions.0 -

2 mile commute each way = work clothes with the stylish trousers tucked in socks look, proper cycling shoes (clipless) and dhb windproof jacket.
12 mile each way, fairly hardcore off-road detour route = Cycling shoes, baggy shorts, 3/4 bib shorts, mtb s/s jersey, l/s base layer (depending on weather) and windproof jacket.
Showers at work so getting muddy/sweaty is not really an issue.0 -
16 miles each way. Baggie shorts, vest and rucksack. Add hoodie and tights in really cold weather.0
-
12.5 miles, hilly (Peak district to Stockport)
Tracksters and always something high vis
I managed to find a high vis jumper (running top from ronhill), sometimes a lusso HT60 high vis jacket (quite sweaty, but manageable)
And panniers now...
And a Buff, sometimes as a sweatband.0 -
9 miles each way- ronhills, aldi jacket (altura when cold) dhb shoes- big rucksack0
-
7 miles each way. lycra longs/ or shorts, cycling top and luminous waterproof jacket in winter, or just a tee and my hump in summer.FCN 8 in winter

As of this morning:
Baggy shorts
long sleeve merino wool top from Endura
Gilet
Winter commute:
Ronhill bikester tights
Merino wool top
Foska tangent jacket(fantastic bit of kit)
Sealskinz merino socks
I second the earlier comment about the merino wool top. It's warm when it's cold and cool when hot. It is very efficient at wicking sweat from the skin and doen't smell for at least 3 rides(6 miles each way in my case).0 -
I only do 3 miles each way but it's lycra shorts or tights & a jersey / base-layer always :P
Baggy clothing on a road bike is wrong.0 -
14 miles in usually (but can be less) and at least 7.8 miles home.
Helmet, bib tights or 3/4's and baggies, base layer and either l/s jersey of soft shell jacket, gloves or track mits, spd's with overshoes if it's raining, left them at home yesterday what a numpty!_________________________________________________
