    My three penny's worth:

the short sleeve shirts are wafer thin and a little short in the torso though I can live with them for the price.

    the saddles are good value.

the shoes take an spd cleat-not supplied(in my box anyway)- but the cleat is not recessed into the sole so they are about as good for walking in as a pair of road shoes! But they seem comfy and size 9 is a size 9-no need to go up a size unlike some makes.

For what it's worth there was nobody in my local Lidl( Stockport) at 10am and no signs that any massed hordes had rifling through the stock!
Maybe we have more Lidl's up here than you Bristolians etc.

Well, I hauled my ass round to my local store for it opening bang on 8am.

When they've had stuff on before I've usually went down in the afternoon and there's been little left but even at 8am they didn't have a lot of stock out and I believe their policy is to put all the stock out at once.

I did however manage to get

    3 x cycling tops
    1 x jacket
1 x cycling capri pants (for the wife)
2 x packs of cycling socks
    1 x cycle computer

    For £44.

That's just unbelievable value considering you could pay the same for ONE of those items in a cycle shop.

    Is the cycle computer wireless?

    Yes
  • It's also worth noting that the clothes are available in various colours, not just the ones in the advert.

I got black, white and red cycling tops and the jackets were available in red or black.

I got a computer for the winter road bike, two pairs of shorts for commuting and a pair of shoes. They are proper ugly this time round, the nicest ones were unfortunately the girls' ones so I ended up with some black and red clodhoppers. Good fit at least, although if its true about the non-recessed cleat they could well be going back...

The cleats are recessed - there is a cleat cover which needs to be removed from the sole, like most SPD shoes. Also the norm is for cleats to be supplied with pedals, not shoes.

I could have sworn this said 'Aldi' gear on sale. That was a wasted two hours!
  • Ok, I tried the stuff on when I got home.

I'm 6 foot tall and a 44 inch chest and all the clothes I bought are size Large.

The jacket is a perfect fit around the body but a tiny bit long in the arms. A few decent features like concealed hood, fleece lining in the collar for comfort and a wee cover over the top of the zip to stop it irritating you. It's got dual fasteners so you can unzip from the top or bottom. Zip compartment on the back as well as pockets on the side.

The tops are made of a nice material. They feel a tiny bit tight around my back back I'm very broad shouldered but overall they're a nice fit and length. Not skintight but not too baggy. Elasticated round the waist so they sit tight there but quite loose over the stomach and chest. They sit quite high up the neck but not uncomfortably so. I think they look pretty good for the price and you wouldn't feel like a t.w.a.t walking into a pub for a post ride pint. Pouches on the back but they're not zipped.

  • Bought a few things today, went with XL just to be safe.
Didn't get a pair of shoes in the end - it turns out that the Germans have tiny lady feet. There wasn't a single pair in a manly size 11 or 12. :x

Ok.Thanks for pointing that out. I've only used road shoes before now but fancied a pair of these for my runabout bike. I've ordered some M520 pedals to go with them. Less than £40 for shoes and pedals so not complaining.
  • A sneaky move but I went to the Lidl on the Tottenham Hale gyratory just to make sure no other cyclists would dare  Nice 8am arrival and only 3 others in the store.

    Got:
Shoes - nice fit and will now be going clipless (already got the Shimano sd 540s on offer elsewhere
Mit gloves - pair I had on are a bit dirty, shops tend to throw my change at me :P
Far too many pairs of socks
One top (red) tempted by more but on strict budget
One multi-tool and it really is!
Shorts x 2. Now I bought large but they are still blooming tight on the legs and the seam on both legs is a bit rough so not great. Worse though is I wont be able / dare to ware them out with something over the top
Pain is only weakness leaving the body

+1 on the shoes. I bought a pair of size 10s which are a generous 10. The quality isn't great, the velcro strap is bit pikey but for the price they'll do for local runs, kids to school etc. The recess only just hides my cleats though...

Also brought the jacket which I used this morning and arrived here 20 miles later after an an hour & ¼'s worth of head wind warm as toast, so it did the job. Roll on 4:00 for the return fixture.

hey thanks for the tip off guys!
MattyBain and I have just been to Lidl near Prestwich, and bought shed loads of stuff. I got a few tops, Capri pants, gloves and a little pump. Matty got tops, sets of LED lights... etc..
it seems great stuff. think we'll have to go again and get stocked up with other stuff!
  • I bought some padded cycling shorts from Tesco last year for about £8. Let's just say the "old man" still hasn't forgiven me.

I do rate Tchibo's cycling gear. Its shorts were about £12 and feature Cool Max.

I bagged a couple of bits as well.

Jacket: Nice, but even in XL the sleves are to short, must be my arms!!

Shorts: Again XL, tight around the thighs with the elastic but saggy on the arse, the good way around again I guess.

Computer that I can't get working properly at all, the instructions come in about 50 languages and the English ones must have translated from Martian!! Anybody get their's working let me know

    But good value kit overall.
Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around you could miss it.

The latest leaflet for LIdl just floped through my door, but I've got a question; shouldn't the unicycle be sold with a bell? :D
