You didn't notice the thread was three years old? How on earth did you even find it.I don't do smileys.

What makes you think I didn't notice that the thread was 3 years old? My bike is still running, although starting to fail (headset..., forks...) so why wouldn't it be relevant to comment still?
I found it by that clever little web page called Google, with search term: Cannondale 2008 F6 headset - this thread was one of the first links that comes up (for me, anyway. Others may not experience the same results...).
What I did notice was that there didn't seem to be any post regarding the actual SHIS id number (maybe this terminology has been introduced since the dark ages back in 2009 ) and this information is, I believe, useful for people who wish to purchase a part for their ailing, elderly Cannondale, when the manufacturer itself is particularly unhelpful and tells people to take bikes into a bike shop. Therefore people, who (like myself) find the thread using Google and find that the links that people used 3 years ago are to parts that are no longer for sale, might find the SHIS number useful when Googling for alternative products. I have no idea if the Superstar one is any good or even fits, but by giving more than just a link to a now-defunct product on a page, but actually including the ID, I hoped to be helpful to others that come this way.
A lot of the advice given earlier in the thread seemed to me to be highly technical and not always accurate, so I was hoping to provide what I believe to be accurate information for future readers. If this was inappropriate behaviour for a forum like this, please let me know. I have not posted to BikeRadar forums much before and if I get replies like yours, perhaps I should not bother.Trek 7.5fx for commuting
